Bosco Upset Alert

Post by americanhero » Fri Sep 28, 2018 7:18 pm

Gonna put Bosco on upset alert against JSerra. Lions are moving the ball effectively and Bosco's offense has struggled so far. Lions look more than ready to play. Can't say the same for Bosco.

Mater Dei also looking disinterested but against less formidable competition...I can hear Negro chewing them a new one in the locker room from here

Bosco has definitely looked rusty tonight. You can read into that what you want. But JSerra deserves a lot of credit so far. I've been very impressed. Their defense has cut the downfield off from Boscos passing attack.

Bosco has always had a good-to-great running game, is that not the case this year?

They do but honestly it's kind of hard to say what exactly they have this year because they haven't really been tested yet? The running game should be fantastic but obviously DJ has a lot of expectations on this year as well. 3rd turnover of the half for Bosco BTW.

damn, that would have to be the biggest upset of the year so far, but so far, Bosco has been playing weak teams, is that why the previous games they won, they scored so many points on them? if Bosco loses tonight, how far would that take them out of the National Rankings?

Brutal penalty when Bosco was about to punt will probably be the end of this. With that said, a tough night in Bellflower. The team that took the field tonight can't touch Materi Dei in their current form. They have a lot to improve upon in a short amount of time.

We'll see how they look next week, I predict a drastic improvement. FWIW, from what I saw I wasn't impressed with MD's performance tonight either...not the same team I saw last week

What did you think of JSerra - good, but not that good?

They are well put together I would say. They won't beat themselves and have plenty of talent. Maybe in hindsight JSerra is closer to the top two than previously thought. They deserve a ton of credit. Tonight is a combination of Bosco not being where they should be and JSerra being a strong team. It's the best JSerra team I've ever seen.

I'm sorry I should have been more clear. yes they did. It looked like an illegal substitution? I couldn't quite see.

I believe it was 12 men on the field, that was the specific penalty? but ya if Bosco plays the way they did tonight against MD, then they have no chance against MD.

Just my :2cents: but the Bosco and MD teams we saw tonight are not the ones we'll see in 2 weeks...

bosco clearly has talent... run game is solid. pass game wasnt super effective today. think dj started 1/6. bosco had some turnovers. jserra was solid though and should get third especially with ford getting hurt.

When I saw JSerra at the Redondo Tourney I knew this wasn't the same team of previous years. They have taken a step up and I believe will continue to close the gap in Trinity.

There is where not playing anybody in nonleague hurt Bosco. I realize they couldn’t find anybody better to play them. But their schedule didn’t prepare them well for Trinity league. JSerra was a HUGE step up from who they played so far. JSerra on the other hand has played a good pre league schedule and it showed last night.

I think you are correct. Or at least I hope you are correct. There is time and ability for them to improve. But they certainly need to improve.

They committed an illegal substitution penalty (12 men on the field). The worst part about this was that one of the JSerra players was trying to run off the field, only for one of the coaches to wave him back on which he did.

Some first place team is going to be really sorry when they "meet" the 3rd place team in the Trinity J Serra in the first round!!!

What was the coaching staff at Serra thinking???

You score to up 21-14 with a minute left and onside kick!!!!

Especially when the Bosco kid can throw the ball 60 yards with ease. Effectively putting Bosco in scoring position.

Make them go 80 yards with a minute, NOT 60, PLUS BOSCO gets the ball to start the second half, real momentum killer!!!

Two bad coaching decisions the onside and the coach telling the kid to stay on the field when the kid knew he was the 12th man, , that penalty effectively ended the game
