Anyone have a handle on the accuracy of CALPREPS' computer projections?

There is no way they were going to crown this MD team the Super 25 champ if they had any other option. An undefeated Texas public school state champ like Allen would be USAT’s 2018 wet dream.
If Allen loses one of their next 2 games they would lose all credibility, what little they remaining, if MD doesn’t go to #1. Allen could potentially lose to the current #8 but I can’t imagine a team moving from 8 to 1. The current #5 SFA has a remaining game and will play a decent team but again I just don’t see them jumping to #1.
It will kill USAT to do it but they would have to make #1. They are really pulling for Allen!

Did you catch their projection of the MD-DLS game?

Sure they can, Here's how they do it:

USAT #11 Duncanville (13-0) vs. USAT #1 Allen (14-0), 4 p.m. Saturday, AT&T Stadium, Arlington

USAT #8 Houston North Shore (14-0) vs. USAT #8 (Southwest US) Austin Lake Travis (12-1), 2 p.m. Saturday, NRG Stadium, Houston

Scenario #1: Allen wins out, and at 16-0 stays #1

Scenario #2: Allen and North Shore both win this week and North Shore leapfrogs several teams ahead of them (every team above them except #5 St Frances is done for the year), possibly to as high as #3-#4. Then North Shore beats Allen and at 16-0 jumps the few remaining spots up to #1

Scenario #3: Duncanville upsets Allen and both they and North Shore move up to around 4-5 in the rankings. Then the undefeated winner of the final next week jumps the few remaining spots to #1

It's in the bag...

Omar, I hear you and I wouldnt put it past USAT if their agenda is to not have MD be #1. But then Bosco fans should be equally upset if North Shore or St Frances moves above them.
FYI look at St Frances schedule strength for a good laugh. It makes Allen’s schedule look great. St Frances had teams cancel on them just before the season and they had to scramble to find games.

I watched 1st half of Allen vs Midway. Allen has some big o-linemen and d-lineman. Allen QB looks like a version of DJ, but without the howitzer arm. If Midway is representative of the competition Allen has faced all year I wouldn't put $ on Allen to beat IMG, Bosco or MD. I think they would have their hands full with a C10, DLS and even JSerra.

Agreed, according to CalPreps it's about on a par with La Quinta or Rancho Mirage. They'll get kind of a test this Saturday when they play national #52 Lee County (GA) in something called the GEICO State Champions Bowl Series...

BTW, I don't know why St. Frances doesn't schedule IMG, they seem made for each other --:--

I wouldn't put $ on Allen to beat IMG, Bosco or MD

Seems to me that MD-Bosco-IMG are on a different level and after that there's a big dropoff :2cents:

For those of you here that would rather see Allen be #1 instead of MD. Allen has had more transfers than MD. So now what team will you pull for?

Are you suggesting one should pull for the team with fewer transfers?

Lol, no I’m not. I’m just suggesting that most top national teams are playing by the same set of rules. So it makes no sense to pull for a different team for the reason that MD has transfers because the other contenders do also.

I agree. I don't think anyone outside of USA Today has Allen ahead of Mater Dei... not yet, anyway.

Let me get this straight--this thread is about which is the better of two HSFB teams, that have not played each other and have no common opponents, as determined by a computer and/or a few guys who may or may not have seen either or both teams in person?

And people thought Medieval Scholasticism was prone to pointless discussions...

DOWN GOES ALLEN. DOWN GOES ALLEN.

Can’t wait to see how creative USA Today gets to try and rank anyone but Mater Dei at #1 this week ...

Perhaps Allen's conquerors, mighty Duncanville, will move up to #1. After all, they've played teams like

Berkner, whose power rating is the same as Cypress
Lake Highlands and Pearce, whose power ratings are the same as St. Margaret's.
Dallas White, whose power rating is the same as Saddleback Valley Christian.
Richardson, whose power rating is the same as Tustin.
Molina, whose power rating is the same as La Quinta.

With a schedule like that, how can they be denied?

it's gonna sting a lot, but for those of us who don't like MD, are just gonna have to accept it, really wanted to see another team from the Southland besides MD finish the season number 1, but obviously can't happen now.

Quite a game. Duncanville is up 35-14 at the half, Allen ties it with 21 unanswered points in the 3rd and then Duncan recovers to pull it out in the 4th =D>

1. Evaluate the talent ( Trey Sanders, Bru Mcoy, DJ Uiagalelei, Nolan Smith, Bryce Harper, Trent Mcduffie, Elias Ricks, Noah Cain Chris Steele, Miles Maurano, Evan Neal, Jude Wolfe, Mike Martinez, Sean Dollars/Shakobe Harper, George Holani, Mikel Jones ect.......
2. Evaluate the coaching
3. Test the team with high level competition in high pressure situations ( multiple times during a season )
4. Determine who is the best team in the country

Mater Dei Is best in the country
Bosco is 2 in the country
IMG doesn't quite measure up in all categories but talent off the charts
Allen Definitely doesn't measure up at all

Everyone else in at different level in HS football
