Mater Dei could have failed to score in the entire 2nd half and still would have won by 4.

FYI the racist Mater Dei troll on here STILL thinks there’s something wrong with the composition of this starting lineup at a Catholic school:

If it wasn’t for #2 who had 17pts and #15 who I also believe was in double digits they have no offense. They played well defensively but Mater Dei has too many weapons and just could not be stopped.

The Pit Crew had a couple of good skits though so all wasn’t lost for Servite. I enjoyed the boxing and calf roping skits though some of us wondered where they found the MD BB practice jersey?

Hopefully the “Pit Crew” is editing the bigotry and racism out of those “skits” these days ...

Now if they could compete...that's not their fault-it's on the coaches and administration.

Losing to your arch-rival by 38 every year has to be kinda tiring.

Current Servite seniors were in 2nd grade when those stupid remarks were made. George W. Bush was still President.

In fact this was so long ago that some Bosco football players were still at their first high school.

Yeah, and the seniors leading that Pit Crew are now men in their late 20s. Husbands, fathers, budding leaders of Orange County.

Hopefully the current “Crew” has indeed learned from the “stupid remarks” of the George W Bush days. All of them.

I think all of us here are glad there weren't smartphones around to record the dumbest things we said at 17 years old.

But look at our current starting lineup. Not worried about a repeat of 2009.

I hope you’re right. But let’s keep it real, the current starting lineup isn’t a reflection of the “Pit Crew.” #CREDO

First rate student section. They deserve a team up to their level.

Dailydose, he’s 8-64 now in league 2 league games in to his 8th year. Hopefully Servite gets rid of him after this season.

FatherSonHolyHldbcks, a screen shot of the students who choose to participate in the asuylum isn’t necessarily indicative of the total make up of the school. Go take a walk on campus one day.

I didn’t say it was.

How many TL games left? Are they playing in the Nike Extravaganza?

3 Trinity league games left. Only playing everyone once this year. Yes on Nike extravaganza. Playing a couple of crappy non league games as well to make sure he gets a playoff chance.

The picture you posted is from 2013 or 2014, but whatever. The point I was trying to make is that Servite is a lot more ethnically diverse than most people might think, and with four black players on the varsity squad, it's virtually unimaginable that we could witness a repeat of the stupidity of what happened ten years ago.

As long as we're keeping it real, there probably isn't a starting lineup of any Trinity League basketball or football team that is reflective of the broader student body. And I'm sure the now 28-year-old guys from the 2009 cheering section look back on that January night with no little embarrassment.

Nor should there be, necessarily. You can only field a team comprised of the kids who volunteer to take part. Have you seen MD this year?

You mean "much" embarrassment? One would hope so.

True, but I think it should give us pause that these linups are becoming increasingly less representative of the student body as a whole. Then we just go further down the road to becoming nothing more than a junior version of big-time college FB, which is not our mission as Catholic schools, IMHO. And what kind of message is this sending to the broader public about our priorities?
Omar Bongo wrote: You can only field a team comprised of the kids who volunteer to take part. Have you seen MD this year?
I see. So the only group of kids who "volunteered" to play football this year just happened to be strangely overladen with 4-star athletes and 300+ lb kids who can bench press the same? Who knew? What a fortuitous coincidence for Coach Rollinson! Every school should have a volunteering spirit.

Credo: And I'm sure the now 28-year-old guys from the 2009 cheering section look back on that January night with no little embarrassment
Omar Bongo wrote: You mean "much" embarrassment? One would hope so.
No, I did mean "no little," which is an idiom that mean considerable or a lot. But you probably knew that already. Or one would hope so.
