It's truly a new frontier. Blame 7on7, camps, clinics, social media etc...
Last year md got criddell, dollars, Bryce young amongst others. They all play on the same 7on7 team ground zero along with darrion green, Rick's, davies etc.. these parents all know each other and are the biggest recruiters. They find the unhappy/shopping parents and they tell the parents who to make contact with at the school to get the ball rolling. Everyone in the TL is trying to get their own pipeline somehow. Troy thomas has gone all in with the OC Buckeyes and spent the entire month of December as a pop Warner dc for the orange county FBU team.
If these guys smell blood in the water (un-happy parents) and we all have many of them the vultures come out. It's crazy out there. Servite lost at least 2 talented freshman kids to bosco this winter break who I know both parents were unhappy all season.

No issue whatsoever with player / parents seeking greener pastures.

Actively recruiting players on other school rosters to benefit you at their expense is immoral and unethical. There's nothing ambiguous about this.

Are you OK with it...Credofriar? Prof Fate? MDDad? Omar? Luca? Bosco guys?

I am no one to judge parents trying to do what’s best for there child or to judge people for “sins” that are unproven and may not be considered sins in the first place.

One I don’t believe anyone from any T.L. school is “actively recruiting players”. Two, if a parent asks you to help their child and you don’t would that be unethical? I don’t believe help a kid go to a good school is intrinsically evil.

1. I believe you are wrong, but can't prove it...yet.
2. Again, if parent / player initiate desire to xfer for perceived better opportunity, nothing wrong with that, in my book anyway.

The question is: Do you think there is a moral / ethical breach if your school initiates contact, by coach or by proxy, for the purpose of getting a player to xfer from another school?

What do you mean by "actively recruiting"? What specifically are they doing?

Coaches or proxies Initiating contact by text or other forms of communication with players enrolled at another school, saying they can get them free tuition if they xferd.

Do you think there is a moral / ethical breach if your school initiates contact, by coach or by proxy, for the purpose of getting a player to xfer from another school?

Yes, absolutely. Furthermore, it is a gross violation of CIF rules.

Not surprisingly at all, you are willing to take a clear stand on a pretty unambiguous question. Are you aware of any breaches of this by anyone at MD?

Uh oh..., #OffTheRecord

Is this game possible..., really....., without breaches? Like Wall Street to Senate chambers..... high stakes poker (of most any game of high stakes) are riddle with breaches. :hide:

But they didn't win CIF, The State, nor the National title. How many schools did Toler and McDuffy play for? Sometimes title chasing just doesn't work.

You are assuming all transfer to title chase. The wheels were off at Servite. Lots left Servite for other reasons than chasing a title.

I think it's more likely many want to get better and get more national exposure

There are as many reasons for kids transferring as there are kids transferring:

To escape a bad situation - either in the neighborhood, the school or the football program.
To practice against better talent every day.
To play against better competition.
To get more playing time.
To benefit from better coaching.
To get more college recruiting exposure.
To play with friends or ex-teammates.
To win a championship.
To piss off Professor Fate.
As a result of a family break-up.
As a result of a new job or a job transfer.
And, yes, even sometimes as a result of a legitimate family move for non-athletic reasons.

And a couple dozen others.

Unless all that is responsible for world hunger, racism, or CIF officiating, we should probably not be “blaming” that for anything.

No they don’t. Ricks, Green, Martinez, Criddell, Nimmo and Davies (and others) are with GZ, Bryce is the QB of their biggest 7On rival Premium, with Bru McCoy and Huffman Dixon as his top targets last summer. A ton of kids from other schools were on both of those teams that somehow didn’t end up at Mater Dei.

If they want to, they’ll get together on the same HS team regardless of 7On affiliations. And these parents will talk and “recruit” regardless, as will the coaches at public and private schools. And you’ll tear your clothes regardless.

These things aren’t the root of all evil. Relax.

It’s truly not. Top players have been transferring to join other top players, at all manner of schools, for decades. It’s more public now with social media making it known instantaneously (and sometimes BEFORE it actually happens). People have been particularly complaining about private schools getting transfers seemingly forever, especially Mater Dei (in pretty much every sport, girls and boys).

Bick, check your PM's.

If someone PM’s another member, why do they need to post about it? Obviously the person will get notified.

For a 16 year old boy?? Yeah, could be a bunch:

Catholic school girls (Servite/Bosco departure section).

A wardrobe of free Nike/UA/Adidas gear.

Playing on TV against nationally ranked teams — on Fox and maybe even ESPN.

Telling friends they attend a private school without paying a dime (whether true or not).

Out of state games, flying on a jet plane (Bosco arrival section).

College-style game atmospheres.

Public school girls (Mission Viejo arrival section).
