2019 Football Schedules

If Hudl is to be believed,

Servite

@ JW North - August 30
@ Bishop Gorman - September 7
@ Cajon - September 13
vs. Villa Park - September 20
@ Notre Dame - September 27
vs. SJ Bosco - October 4
@ Mater Dei - October 11
vs. J Serra - October 18
vs. Santa Margarita - October 25
@ Orange Lutheran - November 1

I imagine there are errors here. This shows 6 road games and only 4 home games. And it shows no bye week unless week 0 is considered the bye week. Anyway this is what I have so far.

They past couple years there has been a bye week for the entire league after the last no league game and before Trinity league games start. MD played IMG during the built in bye week last year.

There is no such thing as a "built-in bye week". Teams have 11 weeks to play 10 games. Depending upon how a coach chooses to set their schedule, that bye week can be anywhere. Many teams have chosen to have that bye right before league play starts to rest and get ready for league (the perception among some being that you gain something by doing this). Others take it whenever it happens to fall because a) you can't find a game that week b) your league has an odd number so it falls during the league portion of the schedule c) you choose not to play a week 0 game.

Laguna Hills
Scrimmage @ Cal Poly SLOvs Cabrillo and Santa Maria
vs Uni 8/30
vs Marina 9/6
@SVC 9/13
vs Segerstrom 9/20
vs Bellflower 9/27
@Dana 10/4
@ Garden Grove 10/11
vs Trabuco 10/18
vs Aliso 10/25
@San Juan Hills 11/1

Our bye is week 0 and we had an opening week 7 filled with a non-league game vs GG

Friars should catch a break on Cajon and VP both losing D1 QB's to graduation...

Let’s hope Servite is not actually playing Bishop Gorman again. Adding another automatic to the other two automatic L’s you have in league doesn’t strike me as sound scheduling.

Bishop Gorman is not the Bishop Gorman they used to be.

If they could air condition that outdoor stadium it would be great.

Good point about Bishop Gorman MDDad, but Servite isn't the Servite they used to be when they first started playing Gorman. Having a losing record kept Servite out of the post season this year and while you want to prepare for league and challenge the kids, you also want to get to 5 Ws somehow.

I would say they probably lose to MD, SJB and JSerra. Can they win 5 of the other 7?

I understand, FJ, but just remember that a .500 record in football doesn't guarantee a playoff spot like it does in other sports. It just gets you in the at-large pool of teams. And a .500 record with too many cream puffs may backfire when the other at-large selection criteria are applied.

I am aware MDDad but to your point, FIRST you have to get into the pool before SOS becomes relevant. With SJB and MD and JS on the schedule every year with a couple more solid teams on the schedule, i believe Servite's SOS will pretty much always carry the day. Even a "down" Bishop Gorman is still 4 TDs better than the Friars at this point and traveling to Vegas is not advisable in my opinion.

They could if they wanted. The original plans for the outdoor 2020 Tokyo Olympic Stadium now under construction originally included plans for a personal air conditioning vent in the back of every seat. Not sure if that feature made the final cut.

Early prediction:

2019 Saint John Bosco - A lot
2019 Don Bosco - A little

The “Ironmen” might not want to watch the tape from the time their league rival Bergen Catholic came to the West Coast to take on the Trinity League in 2017. #Bloodbath

So MD is not playing Amat and Bishop Gorman. I’m not sure about St Mary’s. Plus obviously no IMG. That is a lot of holes to fill for the pre league schedule. Perhaps they already have but MD hasn’t made their schedule public that I am aware of. I could be mistaken but I read on a national board that MD was going to play an OOS opponent the same weekend that Bosco plays Don Bosco and JSerra plays St Joes, both from New Jersey. This was part of a supposed ‘Trinity league versus the country’ showcase. What is the latest on that rumored game?

I know this ain’t the transfer thread but MD is losing badly to Bosco this transfer season. Are they getting complacent after 2 ships in a row? :eh?: If this were a game it would be a shutout and Bosco would have put a running clock on MD.

Well if it’s an East v West parochial league challenge, there are only 3 other teams in that North Jersey Catholic school league - the Super United Red League - outside of DBP (SJB) and SJR (JSerra):

Paramus Catholic
St Peters Prep
Bergen Catholic

They had to stop the fight when Mater Dei played NJ 2017 state champ BC, so I don’t think anyone from that league wants to see the Monarchs. But I’m not in the room with Tia Meza and Rollo doing the scheduling like MDDad so...

First Edison, now Amat. It’s going to be hard for MD/Bosco to find any local teams to play.

I think we are a few years away from a full out of state pre-season schedule.

Bosco is currently playing 4 out of state teams next year.
JSerra 3 that I know of, MD also playing out of state teams next year.

It will continue to separate these schools from the pack.
