Totally disagree that the Trinity League is more like a college program - the league attracts players as much as any coach, other than Mcknight who will always have first/best shot at the best guys. A college coach doesn’t have to deal with 60 players, 5 teams, all of those parents, many who are over involved. A staff of 8-12 coaches. The dynamics are totally different as well as the type of development. Good point though about the HS teacher/coach - financially it doesn’t make sense to opt out of the public system until full vested in the retirement plan. Only a walk on or young public school Head coach makes sense.

If you don't win then the coach is out of work. In the TL you win by "attracting" players. Hence the need for local club contacts that a Big West assistant would have.

The other stuff is important-but what keeps the coaches job is winning.

Agree that you have to win to keep your job, except at Servite.

I guess so, but still, many thought, expected him to make it to the NBA, but he never played a single NBA game, I remember there was an article that implied why his basketball career crashed in college, he partied a bit too much, too hard, and his off the court issues were similar to that of former MD athlete Todd Marinovich.
