It's that time again. At the 24 team Charter Oaks Super 7 Tournament Servite goes 3-0 in pool play beating Los Altos 30-16, Fullerton 31-13, and St. Francis 20-6. In the Championship bracket, Servite beat Quartz Hills 34-7, Corona Centennial 28-13, and, in the semis Servite beat Charter Oaks 20-6, before defeating St. Francis again in the championship game (score?).

In the other semifinal game St. Francis beat Bishop Amat 12-7.

Other teams included Rancho Cucamonga, Norco, Colony, Chino Hills, Corona Santiago, La Serna, Mira Costa, Rosemead, Murietta Mesa, Ayala, Monrovia, Bassett, San Gabriel, Arcadia and Crespi.

Meanwhile in the Lakeside Tournament, Tesoro came up BIG, winning their pool 3-0, and in the championship bracket, defeated King 17-10, Temescal Canyon 33-0, and Segerstrom 21-17.

While that was happening, Tesoro's Linemen were finishing 3rd at Jesse Sapolu's "Men in the Trenches" competition. (Mater Dei took first place, and Gardena Serra took second).

Tesoro's linemen beat Corona Centennial in round 1, Orange Lutheran in the second round, and Servite in the third round. After that ? I haven't heard.

In the Orlando Scandrick Tournament at Los Alamitos, Mater Dei won it over La Habra. The semis were MD over Cathedral, and La Habra over Narbonne.

SJ Bosco???

Tesoro 21 - Segerstrom 17 in the championship bracket and USA Today is ranking Narbonne #10 nationally. What kind of topsy-turvy world is this?

Bosco had a very poor showing. They did beat La Habra in the morning pool play 28-6, then lose to Grace Bretheran in the 1st round and go home. La Habra ends up making it to the finals.

Guess thats what happens in :25 min passing league games in early spring.

That explains it. Grace Bretheran is the Defending State Bowl II-AA Champion.

No doubt, Bosco had some dudes, and they looked like the weight room has been good to them.
La Habra played in a tough pool play, Beating Edison, losing to Bosco, Beating Serra twice, then Surprise of the tourney, taking down number 1 seed Narbonne, then Los Alamitos, Losing to MD in the finals.
Ryan Zanelli LH QB has been throwing Dimes day in and day out. He hit multiple targets taking what the defense gives him and found Clark Phillips multiple times for big TD'S. Another stand out was LH receiver "White Lightning" Kris Koontz, Zanelli found Koontz running all alone many times past many top DB'S,for TD'S. The "Z" is precise and cuts up defenses like ZORO in a sword fight. Someone is really missing out on a smart , excellent decisions, STRONG ARMED
QB! This is coming off another great performance by the Z, WINNING the Mt. San Jacinto tournament beating Eisenhower in the finals. Next up, Edison Tournament.
Bryce Young was also very good, getting rid of it very quickly and very precise as well.
Very competitve tourney, kids actually were all respectful, for the most part. The Scandrick tourney was very well ran.

Yes grace had a good team last year but they finished 2-3 on the day. There other win was against somebody not very good.

In the Scandrick Tournament, I was mistaken about Narbonne being a semifinalist. It was Los Alamitos.

I believe they beat Bosco next and then went against MD in the semis.

Very impressive. Beating Corona Centennial, and three Trinity League teams.

Tesoro looked fantastic as a line. I was very impressed. Alot of undersized guys that have heart. Justin Williams was the only one that looked the part but they constantly whooped everyone they went up against and more than held their own in the losses.

Well coached.

Edison has a stacked line up at Battle at the Beach. MD- Bosco-J SERRA- Narbonne-Serra-La Habra-Grace Brethran-Cathedral- Norco- Corona Centenial, to name a few.

Look, 7 on 7 is fun. But, lets not mistake this for real football. No run game, no tackling, no rush. No special teams, etc.. Maybe Grace found it to be overkill? It seems more and more teams expect outside sources to teach their kids football, whether it be a position trainer a weight trainer, or a outside 7 on 7 team. Now its time for TEAM, and kids cant get together? If you want chemistry, if you want FAMILY, you have to do things as a FAMILY. Otherwise, all you are are individuals playing for self. They have sports for self people, boxing, golf, MMA, swimming, tennis, track. Team sports teach you so much more, if its presented that way. If you allow this selfish culture to creep in to a team atmosphere, you kill chemistry, you kill FAMILY, UNITY, then there is NO BUY IN. Maybe Grace is buying in to something else?

While 7 on is just that, not real football. Bosco sure is underachieving at these events. They should be undefeated with the talent they have on hand. It sure looks like MD has far better coaching than Bosco.

And before the Bosco apologists come at me, I’m not a MD fan. I wish you guys could beat them. Especially when they throw out there a very inexperienced and at best very mediocre QB.

To score as little as you did in that final game with the weapons you have is beyond a head scratcher. This on the heels of that embarrassing loss in the playoffs where your coaches took the blame (and rightly so).

Safe to say your current OC is no where near as good as Chad Johnson. Hoping this doesn’t turn into another debacle in the playoffs this year.

MD has always had better coaching. There were a few years that the talent level at Bosco was higher to a point that coaching didn’t matter. Last year Bosco had the better team but was taken to coaching school in the finals.

Not scoring a lot of points against MD’s defense is hardly a head scratcher.

Last years league game everybody in attendance thought bosco coached the pants off the md coaches. In the finals the md coaches returned the favor, especially the md defensive coaches.

Same thing in 2016. Md won the league game and out coached the bosco coaches. In the finals bosco repaid the favor beating the #1 team in the national 13-0 monarchs by running the ball behind Wyatt Davis for 400+ yards.
