The parents were awful. Not him, necessarily, but the others in the bleachers.
I don't care what Cathedral did, no parents should EVER yell/taunt at any kid from the stands. Literally calling them soft, wet, garbage, word for "kitty cat". It was disgusting. The parents were getting in the kids heads and the loss that occurred on the last play of the game was the tipping point.
Everybody was at fault, refs, parents/kids from both sides. But i was with the La Habra side and I was stunned at the yelling that was being done at the kids.
Look, I came in the last 10 minutes of the game so I didnt see what was going on for the entire game, and I know it was chippy, but the parents were just terrible.
So let me fill you in on what happened before the last five minutes you were there. You’re a Bosco dad. Your game had just ended. That’s all that walked over by La Habra’s side. The Cathedral parents were only 10 feet away and done in the same bleachers. So it wasn’t just La Habra fans you stood near.
Cathedral got into a fight with a different team the week before at the Rams passing tournament. They also were taunting Bucanon in their first game.
During warmups before our game, their kids made fun of a special needs kid on La Habra's team. In front of their coaches mind you. Those coaches didn’t say or do anything.
Once the game started, both the kids and their parents were taunting La Habra. Our kids responded, as did our parents toward their sidelines.
Yes we have a LB who is too aggressive with his two hand touches. But he’s never hurt anyone and he wasn’t in on a single play in this game.
The Cathedral kids were doing that very thing to us with the aggressive pushes. Not a big deal. It is football after all.
Now I was standing next to the stands where Clark was sitting in the end zone. So the same location as you. I did not hear a single La Habra parent yell toward a kid any of the things you claimed up until the final drive.
There was a really dirty play where a LH wr ran a deep post route. He went up for the ball. The safety came over and lowered his shoulder into the kid when he was coming back down. The cb hit him from behind. The kid was essentially tackled and laid hurt on the ground. Two refs threw flags on the play.
LH parents were then yelling to throw the Cathedral kid out of the game. One of the Cathedral kids then started to taunt a LH dad who was sitting by the yellow tape. That dad stood up and started yelling at the kid. He should not have done so.
Now a Cathedral dad who was talking trash to our kids and our parents started to scream out bulksh!t to the refs the entire final drive. Funny how you didn’t mention that piece of info.
LH goes on to win on a TD pass to end the game. The LH teams runs out to celebrate. A LH dB starts to clap in the face of the Cathedral kid who talked the most trash. So the Cathedral kid pushed the LH kid. The LH kid pushed him back. The Cathedral kid then punches the LH kid and that’s how the fighting started.
Now your pitiful attempt to excuse away the violence by placing it at the LH parents feet is an absurd stretch. Are they perfect? Hell no. Are they to blame? Hell no.
During the melee, the Cathedral kids ran over to where the LH kids were celebrating. Why would LH kids look to fight when they just won the game?
Remember that special needs kid that’s on the LH team who was mocked earlier? Well some POS Cathedral kid punched him in the back of his head. He had to be helped off the field because he was hurt.
Another dad jumped on his son who was pushed to the ground. As he laid over his kid, another Cathedral kid kicked him in the face. The dad had a bad cut and he had to go get stitches.
And then there was this:
Go full screen. The kid who started the fight ran in and punched a parent on the back of his head 2-3 times before he runs away. The video speaks for itself. That’s assault.
Your concerns about five minutes of LH parents overly reacting to the other team is the wrong place to focus your entire comments. You should have asked what the context was. You could have described the Cathedral parents were saying. Instead, you rather seem to have an ax to grind with LH.
Bottom line is Cathedral started the violence. Yes some La Habra kids ended up winning some of the fights, but they were acting in self defense.
But it didn’t end there. Once the field was cleared out, some of the LH parents were sitting near a few of the Cathedral dads. Those dads said they were going to wait in the parking lot and jump some of us when we left. We had to get a HB police officer to escort us out of the school. And sure enough this guy and a few others were waiting by an exit to the parking lot.
Cathedral’s coaches have lost control of their kids and parents. They’re a hot mess.
