Two weeks to go for most

From a board back East, doesn't speak to linemen, backers, Db's etc., but still generated some decent conversation for those folks.

1)Surprise teams (teams you think will be better than most expect, those ready to make a jump)?

2)Program that is going to step back?

3)Favorite Coach? Who runs the most innovative schemes? Gets the most out of the talent they have?

4)What player are you most interested in? Who are some of the best returning skill players?

1--JSerra
2--San Clemente
3--Bruce Rollinson. Mark Logan. El Modena.
4--Bryce Young. Young ( MD), Street ( JS), Phillips ( LH), Bryant ( CC)

In regards to JSerra, heard from someone involved in the program that Bob Johnson and Rob Johnson are working with the QB and the offense in the preseason. Still want to beat Mater Dei it seems.

Agree on JSerra. It's also good to see that Bob/Rob Johnson are still kinda in the game-and letting Chad Johnson do his job.

JSerra is NOT a surprise. Sure the play in the shadows of MD and Bosco but they are freakin good. The only surprise would be if they didn’t beat everybody on their schedule not named Bosco or MD.

they still have to get over the hump against SJB/MD. This year's team just might do it. Offense is there-do they have enough on the other side of the ball?

JSerra may have their hands full in their 2nd game against St Joseph Regional. They finished as State Champs in their division beating Bergen Catholic in the final.
They are also projected to be the NJ no. 1 team and return as State Champs.

SJR was a Jr. led team last year with junior QB Alimo passing with 102 comp out of 186 attmpt for 1450 yds 13 TD against 3 int.

The main running backs last year were
So. Estime who played in 11 out of 12 games with 156 carries for 860 yds,
Jr Powel who just played in 10 of 12 games ran 99 times for 631 yrds.
Jr Epps who played in 9 out of 12 games with 62 carries for 479 yrd.

May be a good test early in the season.

JSerra isn't a surprise. They are loaded. 2020 is the year they really look to take that next step

You can take the boy out the football field but cant take the football out of the boy.
The Johnson's, Rob and Bobby boy, have unfinished business and being USC alum, helping out ex SC alum
Harlow and Booty. Look for Booty to be the next big thing. Especially with the run game of street, it will take alot of pressure off Booty. Will they have the trench guys and defense to compete vs MD?? I honestly think, if there was a year MD would be down, it might be this year. When I say down, i mean not on top of the big 3, Bosco, Corona Centennial, MD. Who knows, it will be interesting. --:--

It's very unlikely Md will have a down year. However with a lot of Seniors graduating next year will be interesting.

MD has a tougher schedule this year than the past few years IMHO. The only unknowns to me are running back and how they shuffle the defensive line. But, I'm sure others that are closer to the program can chime in on those two areas.

MD's schedule is insane. Kuddos to them for taking it on.

The Peoria Centennial (away) game is a classic trap game for MD. Long bus ride, 90+ degree heat at kickoff, and an opponent with a history of upsetting big-name opponents (St Thomas Aquinas, Bishop Gorman).

I agree with you on VP. I was surprised how high they're ranked by the OCR. I know they still have the Z bros but they lost Piferi. I don't see how they're going to fill those shoes.
