MD had one loss on the field and also had to forfeit their first game of the season. So technically they had 2 losses on their record. I think some rankings, especially USAT, held that against MD in the end. NorthShore was ranked below MD going into the final games and they moved NorthShore to #1 in the end. Outrageous!
Maxpreps has 2 polls, the computer based one had Mater Dei comfortably on top. The human based one had North Shore #1.
Calpreps' computer ratings (the same one Maxpreps uses) are the gold standard. Whenever humans are involved bias and politics are as well.
"How stupid is our country?"
CalPreps and Maxpreps computer rankings use BS, flawed algorithms, created and coded & implemented by humans, just like the joke of a “proprietary algorithm” used by High School Football America. Everything in those “projections” and ratings is based off the initial input and coding done by whoever programmed it, creating bias in the way certain factors are weighted over others to get the ratings and projections.
HSFB America’s proprietary algorithm regularly manages to rank the teams outside it’s top 20-25 that every single “human poll” has in their top 10. All those human polls are just wrong because the computer said so? GTFOH. And MaxPreps idiotic computer poll always seems to have teams ranked it its top 25 that are not even in the top 40-50 for other polls. THAT (and it’s apparent cousin CalPreps) is the “gold standard”??
No national poll or rating system is gospel, they are all flawed
SFA beats former #3 IMG but stays behind new #3 Duncanville in latest Maxpreps Top 25.
Very tough week for Bosco’s schedule strength, as both Good Counsel and DeMatha lost their national rankings with league losses to St Johns and Gonzaga respectively.
Last weeks Top 25 scores:
https://www.maxpreps.com/m/news/WI4nWWc ... cademy.htm
MD #1, Florida St Thomas Aquinas #2 and Bosco #3 in latest USA TODAY rankings. SFA moved up from 8 to 5 after its IMG win, with Duncanville (TX) at 4.
De La Salle moved up to #8, and Good Counsel also dropped out of these rankings after its loss.
Other major rankings released for this week:
Jeff Fisher and HSFB America rank MD-SJB 1-2, followed by a move of SFA up to 3. STA is 4, with Duncanville at 5. DLS is 11, and Good Counsel and DeMatha stayed in the top 25 in this ranking despite league losses, at 19 and 21 respectively. GC and DeMatha play this week in a rivalry game.
Prep Nation/National Prep Poll:
MD/SJB 1-2, SFA 3, DLS 13.
PrepForce ranks all 4 of the top teams in the WCAC (SJC/DeMatha/GC/Gonzaga) in its top 25, including ranking St Johns at 14 (the only poll with the 4-4 Cadets ranked). MD/SJB are 1-2, St Frances is 4 and DLS is 15.
Should note that the top team in New Jersey, St Joes Regional, who was nationally ranked all season and beat JSerra in the Honor Bowl, lost in a league game upset to Don Bosco Prep, who Bosco beat earlier in the year.
Note: Jamie DeMoney of PrepNation currently has two teams ranked at #23 in the rankings he released yesterday.
Thanks dntn, I’m interested. Nice work.
Looks like you already called Jamie out on the 23 repeat!
Nice profile pic too bro
Maxpreps' Composite 25 the averages the MaxPreps poll, PrepNation poll, USA Today poll, High School Football America poll and the Calpreps/MaxPreps computer.
Without making me leave this site, can you explain what you mean by a "more holistic" look? Do you not have MD-Bosco ranked 1-2?
"How stupid is our country?"
I know clicking on links can be scary, so let me assure you that there is only a 5% chance clicking that link will give you a virus. If you ask me, those are pretty good odds.
Also, the odds go down significantly if you can complete the BOSCO spellout within 10 seconds of the page loading.
I’ve been a big fan of your compilation poll. It’s nice work.dntn31 wrote:For anyone who is interested, I maintain a weekly compilation poll that includes 7 of the major polling services and provides a more holistic look than the compilation poll released by MaxPreps and the media compilation poll put out by HSFBA.
I'm not afraid of a virus. I just wanted a little more info. Thanks anyway.

As I mentioned in the other thread, I highly recommend the "ignore" function, you eliminate reams of twitter cut & paste and whiney, repetitive personal attacks leaving the actual intelligent commentary intact. Best of all you get to see people following you around like a puppy dog and don't have to scroll past their their off-topic garbage anymore...
FatherSonHolyHldbcks, who is currently on your ignore list, made this post.
I clicked the link and no virus...yet lol
I’m a new fan, and not because the poll is necessarily more holistic or better than the Maxpreps composite, but just because it’s another useful tool we didn’t know about with a good layout, combined useful info, prior years, and direct poll links. Again, appreciate the heads up!
No problem with lurking on the board; lurkers welcome here I believe lol. Especially those who help us sort out the title race! we’ve got a lot of lurkers, contributors, and I guess some folks doing some kinda weird semi-ignore type thing? lol
Which Texas team do you think would beat MD or Bosco, even if played in Texas?
De La Salle coach Justin Alumbaugh laughed earlier this year when a reporter asked whether St Thomas Aquinas was on the same level as Mater Dei and SJB

It isn't fear, it's just asking for the courtesy of explaining what you're talking about. People don't like to leave while they're in the middle of reading something. Simple as that.
