Top 4 always gets home to start the following goes team who did not have home game for next round. If both had away or home then it goes to the coin flips.

I would think that MV would pray to somehow go to #3 to get Bosco, rather than get drubbed at home again by MD ( that's "if" they get by Servite! )
Last 2 playoff appearances by MV against MD have been awful.

You're right, thanks for clarifying. I keep thinking about Bosco playing on the road more than at home last year and forgot Serra came to Bosco for the opening round.

Hate the rule.

I think normally, yes, MV would rather play Bosco. But there's some serious bad blood coming from Bosco here and CJ probably wants to stay away from Bosco for the next 15 years.

He should. He doesn’t want to take that ass whoopin that’ll come to him if he does play Bosco.

Don't hear from Bosco fans much here, I have a question...speaking of a Bosco ass whoopin', what was the story with the Servite game anyway, why was it so close? Just wondering...

This year the Div I playoffs will be just like the basketball Div I playoffs---the Top seeded team
is home--NO COIN flips. Therefore MD and Bosco if they win their games will be the home team up until the Championship game.

Sorry to be late to the party, but did I miss something?

What is the issue about Bosco wanting to murder their former asst coach Johnson.

Why the bad blood? Did he leave to get a head coaching job only? or was he forced out?

Was he the offensive coordinator at Bosco?

They don't seem as potent offensively this year, hard feelings?

Just curious, anybody "really" know the scoop?

Not true. After first round semifinals home sites will be decided by regular playoff rules.

hmm, no more awful then any body else though..I guess the majority of teams MD played were awful - you must think everyone but Bosco in the trinity league is just awful too ...must be an awful league in your thinking....
lets compare how everyone has done against MD the last two years..
MD vs..
2017
MV 49-21
DLS 52-21
SJ Bosco 49-24
LB Poly 55-13
Vista Murrieta 49-7
Servite 51-7
OLu 51-21
JSerra 45-3
SJ Bosco 31-21
SM 70-35
St Mary 52-14
Bergen Catholic 62-14
LM 42-0
Bishop Gorman 35-21
Bishop Amat 31-7
(hmm most the scores or games lets say are relatively about the same)
.....
2018
MV 56-17
BA 42-14
Bishop Gorman 42-0
LM 49-0
St Mary 56-0
IMG 28-24 ****
Servite 35-0
SM 49-7
@@@@ St Bosco 18-41 @@@
JSerra 42-7
Olu 45-7
Valencia 44-6
CC 48-14
SJ Bosco 17-13
DLS 35-21

So far in 2019
CC 42-12
VP 63-7
Centennial (AZ) 71-21
St Francis Academy 34-18
St Johns 53-24
( the weak Trinity league)
Olu 51-14
Servite 56-11
Sm 45-0
SJ Bosco 38-24
Jserra - must be shaking in their boots you must think since they have only lost by a combined 87 -10 the last 2 years

nobody but Bosco and IMG( not winning but close) has had any success against MD. Everyone else looked just as ..in your characterization " awful" as MV or anyone else. That is what happens when you play the best team in the nation.
No one is going to be favored or predicted to even have the game figuratively close (other than Bosco and maybe DLS) in a game with MD.

It is not how "awful " others teams look as mush as it is just how "great" a team MD has.

What a uninformed or short sighted comment.

I'm not surprised that the CIF would do something idiotic like this. If seeding form holds and the highest seed wins their games in the first round, then in the semifinals one would think that the higher seed would be the home team. I can somewhat understand if there is an upset in the first round, then okay that team would get to host the semifinal since they traveled in the first round.
But if both teams were home in game 1, then the higher seed should host the semifinals. Doesn't it make sense to reward teams for what happens in the season? I'm not saying this as a MD homer, but it does seem bogus to potentially play a semifinal at Corona Centennial or Mission, especially since those teams also hosted round 1 games.

Took you a lot of time and energy to agree with me that basically everyone else must be awful compared to MD.

Listen knucklehead I was trying to be polite to MV.

They got RUN AT HOME!!!! 2 years in a row.

So much for trying to be polite.

MV cannot measure up!!!

Actually, I believe LTO is correct. Fryer referenced the change in his column a few days ago...

Per CIF, Sondheimer is the winner on this one. Rules have not changed, coin flips to decide home games where necessary. I don't get it, Steve is never wrong....

so, in the 2nd round, if both teams played at home, a coin flip would occur. However, if Team A played at home and Team B was on the road, Team B would then get the game played at their home?

That is the way it's always been Kuppster. If team B, on Bosco's side of the bracket most likely JSerra, wins the Braves will head back to South County for the semi's. ( I'm assuming Bosco boat races Calabasas ).

This would give Coach Negro a chance to stop in and break bread with Coach Johnson the afternoon of the game.
