I think the last time a team that wasn't seeded #1 or #2 won it all was 2012 (LB Poly)

The last team to win CIF D1/Pac-5 football title that wasn’t a top 2 seed was 2014 Centennial (#3 seed).

Upset 1-seed Bosco, 48-41 in Josh Rosen’s last high school game. Was the first IE team since Rialto Eisenhower in 1993 to win top division in football.

JSerra was actually the #2 seed that year.

DBTG, besides not liking MV, lets just put your comments in order about jokes. Has anyone that post on here pretending that there was any team in So. Cal (not just MV) besides Bosco that was given any chance of not being blown out by MD! And yes that is a statement not a question.

I would have liked MV preseason schedule to have been a little better but it is not like the majority of Div 1 teams did not have much better schedule drawn up before the season started. So I guess in your thinking Div 1 as a whole is a joke in scheduling.

Div 1 teams
teams with 3 or more Div 1 teams in their preseason
MD, SJB, JSerra, Olu, CC, San Clemente, LB Poly.

As for the other 11 teams - a few team had 2 games at the Div 1 level and the rest 1 or in the case of RC no games at the Div 1 level.

The Majority of teams in Div 1 played a preseason full of lower level games.

As far as MV Schedule, - game in Hawaii was at least against a better team then in the past, but it is what it is, a field trip to Hawaii

Sm - Your really going to complain about a game with a Trinity team?

LA Habra - has been a good game every year and at some point Frank may stop asking to reschedule. Its not like scheduling Div 5 Mayfair or Div 10 JW North.

Villa Park asked for this game last year and though they had good team last year they still had to finish the home and away contract this year. ( but have you wonder why or have you called out the No. 1 team in the nation who scheduled them too? ).. hmm good enough for MD and Servite but not MV...gotcha...I didnt like the scheduling the game in the first place but they were better then I expected last year, this year about where I thought.)

St Mary's - no one was thinking this was going to be a bad game or be as bad as it was before it was played. hmm and when MD put them on the schedule this was suppose to have been a big game...(St Marys asked for this game and thought they would be better, and they did have a lot of injuries.)

Upland - would have been moved into Div 1 this year by winning the D2 CIF Championship last year so just how is this a lower level game or bad game to schedule?

You can obviously lose to MD or Bosco by 100 and it will not affect your playoff position.

Mission-JS and Servite-CC would be firsts I believe...great matchups in any case

If all the Trinity League teams were to win in the first round I think all the public schools would revolt lol

At what point does the MD train derail? It's inevitable, but when and how? Every school goes through it, I'm just curious to know how this chapter ends.

Here are my scenarios.

- Rollo retiring: Is the just a figurehead or does he hold all the power at MD? I hear he has some pull so maybe the transfer influx ends and parity ensues in the Trinity. You can already see this happening at Bosco, the depth chart ain't so deep in Brave Nation.

- Big donor, parental backlash: If little Johnny has lived his entire life to wear the "3 stripes" where he fulfills his duties on Frosh ball, JV ball, scout team Jr. year and finally his big Sr. year chance to shine and start but only to be bumped by a senior transfer from Corona.

- CIF Rules: Maybe the CIF gets some cajones and puts this nonsense to a halt. Mandatory for any transfer to a private school must sit out 1 football season, no exceptions. Public to public transfers have no penalty if its due to a legit address move. Might be tough to enforce as it was back in the day but at least you had parity.

Diocese - Maybe the diocese steps in and states that your roster must comprise of 90% baptized and confirmed Catholics (this one is for Domingo :D )

My :2cents: Out!

good question, I believe MD is one of the few program in the SoCal region, I mean very few, that has always managed to stay relevant, I believe the 2011 season, is MD's only non-playoff appearance season in the Rollo era, the season before Rollo blew up the program, I believe in that time, they held the O.C. record for the longest streak of playoff appearences, I wonder which O.C. public school has the O.C. record for the longest streak of playoff appearences.

As for Rollo retiring, I can see him still remaining the HC just like the late Joe Paterno was at Penn State, or still being the HC while using a cane or a walker, that's how committed he is to MD.

Rollo blew up the program AFTER the 2011 season. The Following year they made it to CIF Finals, only to get what was an upset at the time losing to LB Poly.
