If there is continued blowouts by the top two teams I think we might see a 4 team playoff and maybe eventually 2 team the way it should be.

TX 6A is definitely the toughest bracket this year, as can be seen from the rankings you mentioned. WCAC in the DMV is right there, too. Not that any TX teams could beat MD or Bosco, but I do believe their overall path to a state championship is the toughest in the nation.

MV D will limit offense, and basically shock everyone with the different ways the Diablos can score on offense and Defense. MV will have scoring opportunities regardless of phase, I would not be surprised to see a large margin of victory...

Assuming MV and MD win, has the coin toss taken place who gets the home game next week?

Yes, MD is the away team vs. either Servite or MV

MV won a coin flip for the home game versus MD. Servite is automatically home team vs MD because Servite is away this week.
FYI.... Centennial won the coin flip versus Bosco. Congratulations Bosco you had a great season but you get to travel to Corona Centennial for the semifinal. That is a joke! I know that is the way the CIF does it but I think it’s absurd that both MD and Bosco are away for the semifinals, given the fact that their opponent was also a home team for the quarterfinals (if MV and Centennial wins). I really don’t have an issue with potentially JSerra or Servite hosting a semifinal since they are the away team this week. But no way should Centennial and MV host the semifinal since they are the lower seed AND were also the home team this week. The CIF totally disregards the season’s performance.

MV needs all the help they can get, if my memory serves me correctly the last 2 years MV has had MD at home and BOOM!!!!! Blow outs, nothing will change.
If MV wins Friday they can plan for 1 more game and then start turning in equipment.

Begin the recruiting and possibly consider dropping down a division, as I can't imagine going only 2 weeks deep in the playoffs year after year can be fun.

Can MD be that good, I'm watching them put up 50 in the 3rd quarter on a 9-1 league champ.

MD looks lethargic and really disinterested.

Amat got an onside kick and then scored, then MD comes out and almost walks 80 yards and scores.

The score comes from the 9 yard line and the DB doesn't get within 10 yards of Epps.

It almost looks too easy.

Kinda glad they don't get CC next week!!!!

Then of course the refs call a penalty for a clean face to face block by a MD reciever as Yetts was going in to make it 56, the zebras are ruining the game.
It's a "contact" sport!!!!

Some thoughts

1) On offense MD is vulnerable to a good pass rush because BY holds the ball way too long and refuses to throw it away. Not sure if he's afraid of impacting his completion %, but it makes for sacks and unnecessary scrambles that lead him to take lots more hits than he should. Causes more holding calls on the OL too. Head scratcher...

2) On D the secondary is still a weak spot and ripe for exploitation

3) Penalties continue to pile up, some questionable but still way too many, 100+ yds a game they have to make up for, not to mention big plays and TDs getting called back

4) They tend to lose focus after a couple scores, been happening all season as well

I don't know if Mission has the guns to take advantage but that game could be a lot closer than people think...

I think the MD secondary did fine considering they were missing Davies and Hunter. Amat made a few plays that gashed them for big yardage. Amat is always scrappy and well coached. There have been times teams have moved the ball on MD between the 20's, but, they have been stingy in the red zone.

Agreed on Bryce holding onto the ball. Amat was collapsing the pocket on him and by the time he decided to bolt they already were too close. Really no excuse for the safety. That resulted in 9 points IMHO.

But, then he makes up for it with a few darts and a juke run for a TD. On to MV.

Wasn't that BA's 2nd string QB? Top RB was out too...

After going up 28-0 in the first quarter I think the team lost their focus. It'll be different
next week.

Were Davies and Hunter being held out as a precaution? I know Davies sat out against JSerra also. He looked to be fine on the sideline even though he wasn’t suited up.
Too bad they still don’t have Elias Ricks and Darion Green-Warren :-)
