3rd down sack by promising sophomore Edge Rusher Jordan Lockhart (really bad camera work again by the Smith PTA member that must be doing the video on NFHS - had camera pointed at the secondary).

OS punts on 4th and 45, Bosco ball at the 20. 40 seconds left.

Bosco dominating this matchup.

Pierce Clarkson completes pass to Chedon James for short gain, then on a short swing pass to Jabari Bates who weaves through the defense for about 30. Nice catch and run, into OS territory. Then a badly missed out route to Matayo, looking to get another 10 or so yards. Pierce just has no accuracy on out breaking throws (or several in breaking throws) at this point of his development. Then an incompletion on a Hail Mary.

Halftime, Bosco 28, Oscar F Smith ZERO

Smith tries and fails onside kick to start 2nd half. Bosco ball at the OS 43.

Katin Houser’s turn. Houser 8/12 124 yds 2TD in 1st half. Clarkson 4/8, 113 and a TD pass to Matayo. houser throws quick screen to Booher in the dirt on 1st down. Then a completion to Booher down the field for 15, he breaks a tackle to pick up 10-15 more, then fumbles as he is tackled from behind. Clemson DB commit Sherrod Covil forced and recovered the fumble (2nd straight future Clemson DB Bosco has faced in these national games).

OS Ball at its own 15. 11:30 left 3Q

After an OS first down, Bosco LB Deven Bryant slips a weak block attempt by an OS OLineman, drills the Tigers RB and forces a fumble. Ball rolls around forever before Peyton Woodyard dives on it. Nice hit. Bosco ball at about the OS 39.

After a short completion out of the slot to Speedy Luke that he takes to the 20, Pierce Clarkson goes no huddle, calls the protection, then looks left and loops a pass to Chedon James. He beats man coverage for the 30th time tonight and makes a diving catch for another touchdown.

35-0 Bosco 9:10 left 3Q. Smith has them right where ESL did.

Chedon James is the 2021 version of Kody Epps (some will get that reference). Killing teams this year. Uncoverable. Don’t think he’s going to end up at Air Force after this year.

Football nerd notes: Bosco’s personnel rotations on defense are interesting. Chris King essentially has been using entire series during this pre league season to experiment with different packages. SJB just used a series to put Medrick Burnett and Matayo in as stand up DEs, with Cal commit Nate Burrell sliding to tackle. Burrell harnessed the QB every play after easily beating the guard.

3 and out for the Tigers again. 6:30m left 3Q

Bosco TD from Houser to Reynoso on short pass where Reynoso juked half the defense and ran down the sideline for 45, called back for clip in Mikey Hayes.

Screen pass to Mikey Hayes then is taken down to the 5 yard line. Again called back due to hold. Bosco penalties again an issue - hard to tell if these are legit with the grainy stream.

Bosco ball at the 31 of OS. Houser quick pass to Booher, followed by a QB draw that he takes up the middle before cutting out to the sideline and going in untouched for about a 25 yard touchdown. Houser was MOVING on that. Pierce Clarkson isn’t the only Bosco QB who can run. Houser has looked REAL good tonight slinging it and now scooting with it.

42-0 Bosco 4:01 left 3Q, running clock has been going on for a bit I believe.

I’m not saying Houser is the best QB Bosco has, but I’m not not saying that either …

Garbage time 🗑 in this one. Backups and 3rd teamers in for the Braves. After another 3 and out by OS, Bosco 3rd team sophomore QB Caleb Sanchez takes over and leads a drive that ends with a swing pass to fellow sophomore Chauncey “Boogie” Sylvester that Boogie takes for a TD down the sideline from about 35 yards. The starters go bananas and mob him on the sideline.

49-0 Bosco (seems like the XP and kicking issues for SJB have been fixed for now). 9m left in the game. This one will be put to bed soon as the clock drains.

Smith’s 1st team offense threw a 50 yard touchdown pass against the last kid on the plane for Bosco (couldn’t see who it was and wouldn’t call him out anyway). Called back for holding and the Smith fans have had it with these refs 😂

Clock winds down as Bosco shuffles in every kid it can find who hasn’t played.

Cell phone found, taken to ticket booth area. OS taking care of the community lol

Game ends at 49-0. Braves clearly learned their lesson about finishing games after letting ESL get back into it last week. Also ESL is a MUCH better team than Oscar Smith.

Braves will have next week off to prep for Mater Dei and Trinity Lg play.

I think that Servite game jaded me against Mission and I’m willing to admit it. Diablos have been putting it on people’s heads outside of that game, including tonight against Alemany.

Probably not helping that Alemany is missing their best player in Larry Turner-Gooden tonight. Their offense is also in shambles. Casey Clausen not lighting up the scoreboard with those transfers.

KJ Reed of MV is also a DUDE at wideout. Big time player.

In related South Coast League news, a mediocre Edison team is smacking San Clemente tonight.

Alot of distractions.Norco coming off a bye week. Players mother passed from covid this week. Ott played sparingly due to be involved in a fight last week. But all that aside MV played a great game. Big physical OL and QB made some great throws several on 4th down.Hats off to them.

Friars may cover the spread after all. Sierra Canyon battling.

Cornerback/WR Emmett Mosley has been out since Week 0. Not sure what the issue is, and TMac has been one of their best and hardest hitting defenders. But that’s not good for the big games coming later.

This is insane. SM outscoring Los Al 42-7 in the 2nd half:

Jaxon Potter 4 second half TD throws; 2 each to Niko Lopez and Jalen Jones. Griffins getting exposed by the 4th or 5th best team in the Trinity.

Servite running away with it now, 2nd touchdown on the ground for Noah Fifita:

Fifita hurting the defense on designed runs and scrambles is their ticket to beating Bosco and/or MD.

Major Dub for Chad Johnson’s Diablos. 4 touchdown passes for Kadin Semonza.

MV has tests against Sierra Canyon and in San Diego at Helix coming up in back to back weeks to start October. But they have it rolling right now.

Centennial is BOATRACING people this year. Poly is playing like a D3 team this year but still. Huskies might be back … to the D1 Semis.

When is that Norco/Cen10 game??? I might have to attend.

Anthony Rouzier must have went full Nick Saban in the locker room! What a 2nd half for SM. Eagles 4-1 in non league with their only loss to a good Norco team on the road, and every win by at least 18 points. Jaxon Potter airing people out. Niko Lopez and Jalen Jones are a tough combo at wideout.

SM @ JSerra in the South County Trinity rival game October 1. Brutal stretch after that against Servite-MD-Bosco.

-

Sidenote: what the hell happened to Los Al tonight?? Thought this would be a shootout; they didn’t come out of the locker room the 2nd half. Was there an injury I didn’t hear about? They COLLAPSED like a sand castle. Still think they make the D1 bracket if they win out, which they should.
