As a Servite fan although with a strong dislike for MD, I respected the game of Abbott. Hard nosed kid that played from whistle to whistle.

its just a reminder that Matt Barkley's best performances, where he put up his best numbers, stats, were always against Servite.

Certainly wasn't against Tesoro. He probably still sees Preston King in his sleep.

yup, Matt Barkley's HS career was like Dan Marino, he would put up great numbers, stats, but couldn't get it done in the post-season, he's definetley MD's best ever QB in the title drought era, heck, I think even some considered him the best ever QB at MD until JT Daniels arrived.

I think this is probably one of the biggest "what if's" in O.C. HS football history, especially for the Servite community, on how well would have the 2006 Servite team would have done, if D.J. Shoemate wasn't injured for the season, that was Shoemate's junior year. Its amazing how Servite came close to ending the MD streak that year even without Shoemate. I think I remember Chris Galippo saying, he feels Servite likely could have had an undefeated season in 2006 if Shoemate was healthy.

Agree 100%, if it wasn't for those 4 games they lost they could have easily gone undefeated

if i remember correctly, Shoemate got injured, broke his foot in the first game of the season, didn't play for the rest of the season, for the 2006 season, if it wasn't for that, I feel the 2006 Servite team had the potential to be better than the 2009 Servite team, but didn't happen. I think that's the main reason why Servite has never finished the season number 1 in the nation before, because in all of their times being in the top 5, or top 3 nationally teams, they didn't go undefeated. They lost to Edison in the regular season in 2009, and in 1982 or 1983, they lost to Bishop Moeller of Cincinatti.

It did.

When did T-Bone say that?

Whoa. You’d think the Doyers had won the World Series. Wonder if the Credos have fireworks at the ready if they win tonight?

but you can't deny those other factors as well
