(As I’ve been saying all along) World's top scientists just gave rigorous backing to systematically dismantle capitalism

kramer,

I hope you are not indicative of your generation. My generation was a "can do" generation. We got great things done.

We weren't a "make do" generation that believed the current status quo would be the norm forever.
They told me if I voted for Hillary Clinton the president would be emotional, impulsive, and unpredictable. They were right. I voted for Hillary Clinton and got a president that is emotional, impulsive, and unpredictable.

Well, what is the market solution?

That was a rhetorical question whose answer is carbon credits.

One of the main problems is that the political right--instead of coming up with solutions to the well established problem--has chosen to deny the science instead of working towards a solution. Perhaps it is because their worldview is ineffective. Who knows.

The right contributed to the fight against acid rain with the idea of cap and trade. But now with climate change they have simply withdrawn themselves from the discussion and instead just whine about the possible solutions put forth by those who are left working on the problem.

What is the w"well established problem" that requires a solution?

That wasn't a "rhetorical question", that was a policy suggestion by 'scientists'.

Here's a 'solution': Let all other countries go green and we stay with fossil fuels. This would greatly reduce the amount of plant and tree food in the air. Indeed, we could even maybe get compensated by the world for both reducing their heating bills and nourishing their crops.

And in the meantime under the above scenario, we should still fund R&D to come up with a real viable energy source that provides cheap 24/7/365 power.

CO2 is not pollution and it's not the temperature or bad weather control knob.

As I pointed out earlier. Products of hydrocarbons are carcinogenic. There is more to burning fossil fuels than CO2.

Any possibility that the timing of the Citizen's United decision that opened the floodgates for corporate money was a factor there?

Wikipedia:

In the United States, the "acid rain"-related emission trading system was principally conceived by C. Boyden Gray, a G.H.W. Bush administration attorney. Gray worked with the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), who worked with the EPA to write the bill that became law as part of the Clean Air Act of 1990.

Signed by Bush...

There was once a time in which the Republican Party was interested in governing the United States. They helped create policies to solve pollution problems like cap and trade, and to help solve the health coverage crisis the individual mandate.

But once Democrats adopted them, the Republicans claimed they were wild-eyed socialist ideas.

The right no longer has any interest in governing.
