30 year low for global and N. hemisphere Tropical cyclones

Post by kramer » Thu Mar 12, 2009 2:02 pm

From FSU:
Tropical cyclone (TC) activity worldwide has completely and utterly collapsed during the past 2 to 3 years with TC energy levels sinking to levels not seen since the late 1970s.
The link also says that they may have "underestimated global hurricane energy during the 1970s" which means the current low values might be considerably more lower than what was seen in the '70's.
