Josh Hamilton, man of the year

Post by Luca » Tue Apr 28, 2015 9:26 pm

I don't follow baseball but this Josh Hamilton incident with the Angels is bizarre. He was signed to a $125 million contract with the stipulation he stay off drugs and alcohol........... which he didn't. He went into rehab and didn't play all last year and may not play much this year because of his drug and alcohol use.

And now the Angels find out that they can't enforce the part of the contract that required him to stay off drugs and they have to pay him his whole contract despite the fact that he violated the agreement. It's a union thing, y'see.

And then in today's paper he's quoted as saying to the effect that, gosh, "things didn't work out" (note the passive observation) but that the Angels "knew what they were getting" when they signed him. So of course they are likewise to blame.

Such a towering lack of responsibility, character and insight. It would be hysterical if it weren't so pathetic. Actually it's kind of hysterical anyway, seeing how comically self absorbed a prima donna can get ................Luca

It reminds me of a Louie L'amour saying that he used quite a bit about a Cowboy "riding for the Brand." Which meant that's where his loyalty lies. Hamilton would be the Hillbilly rustling his boss' cattle.
