Business Owners Hit Back at Obama in ‘I Built This’ Video

Following President Barack Obama’s highly criticized “you didn’t build that” remark about business owners last week, some owners have submitted photos of their businesses for a two-minute “I built this” video take down of Obama’s comments.

Organized by Bristol Palin, daughter of 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, the video features dozens of photos from a variety of businesses.

“Since the President doesn’t understand how our economy works, let’s take a moment to explain how small businesses are created,” Palin wrote on her blog. “More importantly, let’s show him the businesses we’ve made and who has made them.”

In the movie "The Dark Knight Rises", these three guys would get either exile or death by the hands of the new hypocratic party run by the Occupy Wall Street crowd.

I'm an independent and "built" my own business a few years ago. I, along with 99.9999% of everyone else who built their own business in this country, received a lot of help from a lot of people, both public and private, in doing so. I owe it to my employees and the government that made and make my business possible to pay back my fair share to support this wonderful system we call capitalism.

I am pretty sure there are a lot of small business owners that feel the same way except THEY (the owner) were the one that started their company and invested the money without the help of others. The government didn't put a dime in it, however they sure took a lot out their businesses.

The number of people who earned and invested every dime they ever received entirely on their own and started their business without the help of anybody or any institution and managed to get to adulthood without ever entering the public school system or using public transportation or roads are few and far between Both of those guys deserve to complain.

LOL, at the Bristol Palin comment saying that Obama doesn't understand how the economy works.

Let's see, does the government not provide safe borders, a legal tender, and laws to help ensure lawful transactions? I mean even if we ignore all of the infastructure and other support that the government can provide, just making it safe and possible for transactions to happen is a huge contribution that the government makes to every business in our country.

Sure, the government can be a pain with taxes that never really seem to help give back to businesses or with regulations and laws that are nonsensical and sometimes very unfair to businesses and their owners, but to say that the government didn't help in the creation of that business is highly idiotic.

As Fallstar expressed so eloquently, yes a business owner must put in a great deal of effort, ingenuity, innovation, and a whole slew of other very unique elements to get their business off the ground, but they also do owe their success to the many employees, family members, friends, business partners, customers, and even the government which helped them along the way.

I say this as the son of someone who created his own company.
There is nothing uglier in this world than a parent riding on the success of their child.

Darn it, MDDaD! You beat me to it. patty, please quit watching CNN and learn what is going on at our southern border! There is a war down there nobody is reporting. Must be nice going to college and sitting at home all comfy and cozy with your rose colored glasses. AND YES! Sarah Palin is correct! This empty suit doesn't know anything about the economy except what his Marxist mentors taught him how it should be. BTW, our Northern border is leaking like a sieve by people escaping their socialistic governmental health care programs. Government can't do anything right except spends millions on awards ceremonies!

Red, I can't tell you how frustrating it is to read that post.

What I was getting at is that because our country doesn't constantly have to fear being invaded by foreign governments, our businesses can trade in a relatively stable environment. Within this particular context, illegal immigration is irrelevant

The truth is frustrating, patty. I understand your concern. Illegal immigration is very relevant. Business can't trade in a "relatively" stable environment when the government always get in the way.

Just stop Patty. As much as I like you it kills me to see you post. I used to try and make informative posts like you then I realized about 5 years ago, no one here gives a crap about stuff like this, unless you add to one side's rhetoric, no one cares how well thought out, how well articulated or how well formed your argument is, it is all about baseless claims and crazy extremism.
Talking to them like adults is giving them far too much respect.
