LAPD Chief Michel Moore on the Santa Clarita shooting: "We both understand that no words can bring back the lives that were lost this morning. But rest assured that the thoughts & prayers of the entire LAPD and @LASchools family are with the community of Saugus tonight."

That's about the firmest "gee, too bad about your kids but we aren't going to do anything about it" ever.

I'd venture a guess that there are more people killed through carelessness than there are from mass shootings. Seems like it's about one a day. Many are "natural selection" type shootings, but probably just as many involve the gun owner's kids, neighbors or innocent bystanders. Pretty amazing if you watch for the stories.

A lot of those "natural selection" type shootings always seem to involve an "unloaded" gun.

First rule of gun safety.

Assume every gun is loaded till proven otherwise. Then check again.

More absolute idiocy from the "more guns" crowd. 2nd Lieutenant Supply Officers walking around with loaded guns. What could go wrong?

I have a hunch that Senator Scott is another survivor of bone spurs. He doesn't seem to have spent much time on military bases.

I found out Scott was in he Navy. I guess he just doesn't remember much from those times. I doubt his idea would go over well with the military. You just don't carry loaded weapons around like that if you aren't in a war zone.

Plus... the Fort Hood shooter was an officer. Fine idea there, Rick.

And.......we have another mass shooting.

This time in Texas at a church.

Thoughts and prayers.

And......once again, a good guy with a gun (two good guys, actually) stopped it, just like in Sutherland, TX two years ago.

When will bad guys learn, that you don't shoot people in Texas, because they will shoot back.

THAT'S how it's done!

It would be better if bad guys didn't get guns.

That doesn't help the dead.

Texas seems to have a problem with Christian-on-Christian violence.

God couldn't save his followers in his own home? Was he too busy helping Betty get that Lexus she was praying to get?

How do you know He didn't?

Two hundred forty or so of them are safe, one is on his way to Hell, and the other two...it was their time to go, and they are hopefully on their way to Heaven.

So, Bad guys with guns-2. Good guys with guns-1. Good guys win! Good guys win! Good guys win!

But on the other hand, it was just ol' God being dramatic. Boy I'm sorry, but I just don't understand either way of thinking.

Thoughts and prayers for all of the victims, not only the ones who were killed.

Because two of them are dead. Shot in his own home.

I've heard gun nuts talk about these events like the bad weather.

It happens and there is nothing that can be done.
