Homeland Security reveals dozens of MS-13 and other gang members have been shielded by sanctuary states from deportation by ICE

The Department of Homeland Security says that so-called ‘sanctuary’ states shielded dozens of alleged MS-13 gang members from deportation during an eight-month period between 2016 and 2017.

The findings were provided to the Senate Judiciary Committee by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) – the federal agency responsible for deporting undocumented migrants.

According to ICE, two-thirds of the 142 suspected gang members that ICE wanted to deport were released in California.

The data was reported by the anti-immigrant think tank Center for Immigration Studies.

California has a sanctuary policy that is considered one of the most progressive in the country.

The Department of Homeland Security says that so-called ‘sanctuary’ states shielded dozens of alleged MS-13 gang members from deportation during an eight-month period between 2016 and 2017. Alleged gang members are seen above in San Salvador in 2016

Sanctuary policies are local guidelines in which state and local authorities limit their cooperation with the federal government in enforcing immigration laws.

...ICE says that the releases of the alleged MS-13 gang members took place in 37 local jurisdictions across 13 states.

The most releases of alleged gang members – 22 – took place in Santa Clara County, California.

San Diego County leaders voted on Tuesday to join the Trump administration’s court challenge to California’s sanctuary law, amid a conservative backlash to the so-called sanctuary movement.

California moved to the forefront of political opposition to Republican President Donald Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration with enactment last year of the first statewide law aimed at restricting local law enforcement participation in federal deportation activity.

The measure bars state and local authorities from keeping undocumented immigrants who are incarcerated locked up any longer than otherwise necessary for the purpose of allowing US immigration agents to take them into custody.

It also prohibits police from routinely inquiring about the immigration status of people detained in an investigation or in traffic stops.

Well, I hope they concentrate on deporting known criminals, not "suspected" gang members or "alleged" gang members. And just for the sake of discussion you could probably find a less obviously biased source than the Center for Immigration Studies.

Which was before the law was even written.

The article leaves out what charges the alleged gang members were being held on, whether or not their alleged gang ties were known at the time, and knowing the types of claims the Center for Immigration Studies makes, whether or not they actually had any gang ties at all.

Awful generous of the Daily Mail to call the CIS a "think tank". I think the SPLC calls it a hate group.

Okay, it's my turn to criticize sources. The SPLC is a leftist, extremist hate group.
There was a time when the Southern Poverty Law Center did useful work reporting on actual hate groups such as the KKK. These days, though, the SPLC is simply a MoveOn or Media Matters–style outfit. Its core mission now is trying to marginalize and shut up even mildly right-of-center voices by calling them instruments of hate, making increasingly strained attempts to tie conservative commentators, authors, political figures, and professors to the alt-right or neo-Nazism. At the same time it elevates absurd bloggers to the level of potential leaders of lynch mobs.

The equivalent of a Drudge-siren moment for SPLC is when it rolls out yet another faux-neutral report on hate, which is always getting worse and threatening to engulf the republic. The SPLC’s report on “Male supremacy,” which it calls “a hateful ideology for the subjugation of women” and ties to the men’s-rights activists lurking on 4Chan and Reddit who boast about their supposed dominance of women, lists as pernicious allies the psychologist, author, and PJ Media columnist Helen Smith and the American Enterprise Institute scholar Christina Hoff Sommers, calling them “anti-feminist female voices” who “give the men’s rights movement a veneer of even-handedness” and lend a “mainstream and respectable face to some MRA concerns.”

...COMMENTS
SPLC’s tactics inspired a Politico piece wondering whether, in an era when the group’s “biggest fights seemed to be behind it,” it was “overstepping its bounds.” “There is a desperate need for more objective research on hate crimes and domestic extremism,” J. M. Berger, a researcher on extremism and a fellow with the International Centre for Counter-Terrorism at the Hague, told Politico. He said that “the problem partly stems from the fact that the [SPLC] wears two hats, as both an activist group and a source of information.” Progressive journalist Ken Silverstein, who in Harper’s compared SPLC’s practices to those of Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker, told Politico, “The organization has always tried to find ways to milk money out of the public by finding whatever threat they can most credibly promote.”

The SPLC is, as Philanthropy Roundtable put it, “Hate, Inc.,” or “The Anti-Hate Group That Is a Hate Group.” Its shameful attacks on Smith, Sommers, Ali, Carson, Paul, Krikorian, and others are simply scaremongering for suckers. It may portray itself as a justice-minded team of Atticus Finches. In reality it’s more like a goon squad of David Brocks.

You're a hate group. There, I made an argument as valid and well-sourced as yours.

I get that. However, coming from Infowars immediately says that it may not actually be a fact.

But it is a telling sign of where you go to get information--your worldview, and most importantly the strength of your confirmation bias.

In the long run, Trumps immigration laws may not produce the economic and social change his supporters are seeking, but it will give them the personal gratification of believing a non-white community is being made to suffer.

No, it's not. That is probably the first and only time I've ever even seen the site. However, as I posted to you earlier:

And by the way, I found no other source that reported that. What does that say about all the sources you have deemed acceptable to be brought "in as a source on this board?"
