I joined this board 10/15/2006

Post by SLK230 »

I joined this board 10/15/2006. In looking back it amazes me how right I was on so many issues.

illegal aliens?
abortion?
Muslim Brotherhood?
climate change, 12 years before we all die?? Really??
borders or rather no borders?
electoral college?
collusion?
The homeless?
poverty?
public education?
A living wage?
income disparity?
The 1%

One by one the conservatives were bullied to the point of leaving. I finally left after some incredibly stupid statements that made me lose my lunch.

Statements (Not Quotes) such as:

The Star Spangled Banner was just a song praising war and not deserving any special place in our culture.

Socialism/communism is no problem to live under as it is just another “economic” system.

The Muslim Brotherhood are good people who only do wonderful things.

Public education is the best and does a great job

illegal aliens are good for the economy.

abortion is good and is not murder.

I see that the dynamic duo that made most of those stupid statements are still alive and well on this board.

The left comes from the point of view that they are mainstream, and any pov that doesn’t agree with it is stupid and feckless. The left always knows what is best for you!

I am not going to get back into these topics again as it will do no good at all.

The left has become even more extreme and even more anti semitic.
The “Squad”, I am sure must be beloved on this board. I can’t believe what these hate filled bigots have to say.

It is interesting looking back over a 13 year window and to compare the present with the past.

Again, I was so right......
Thought for the day:
We are always hearing about how Social Security is going to run out of money.
How come we never hear about Welfare running out of money?

Of course it's so much easier to make people look bad when you paraphrase their statements...quotes won't do when you want to smear someone.

You're a modest man. With much to be modest about.
They told me if I voted for Hillary Clinton the president would be emotional, impulsive, and unpredictable. They were right. I voted for Hillary Clinton and got a president that is emotional, impulsive, and unpredictable.

Maybe you'd be happier somewhere where opposing opinions aren't allowed.

I never said they weren't allowed. I said dissenting opinions were not respected or valued but rather ridiculed.

Why do you think all the conservatives left? It just wasn't worth the effort.

Because they showed themselves to be the biggest snowflakes of all. After eight years of constantly bashing everything done by Obama (including wearing a tan suit) they snapped like dry twigs when the same type of criticism was directed at Trump.

You left in the nick of time. Today is the day that Dems gained a plurality of registered voters in OC. First time since Watergate.

Don't worry. Your home state is going to flip the other senate seat next year.

I disagree. The criticism directed at trump is well-deserved, and not motivated by his race. To criticize trump all you have to do is quote the man, you don't have to make crap up to be outraged about, like the right did (and is still doing) with Obama.

Is being part of being conservative to defend your party at all cost?

I think of a conservative as a logical thinker that is able to understand right and wrong.

Guess times change.

GTFO with that nonsense.

That you think you were so right proves you still have your head in the sand.

Go on, be proud of Trump.

Makes me sick.

That still fits for a good many and I enjoy hearing what they have to say. The trouble came when extremists absconded with the term. To the dismay of the "logical thinkers who are able to understand right and wrong."

John Q Public a question?

What was your reason for starting this board? What did you hope to achieve?

Posting here, as a conservative, reminds me of a bunch of hungry piranhas just waiting for some “meat” to fall into the water.

Another example is when Ann Coulter or Ben Shapiro (or any other conservative) attempts to speak at a college campus and are shouted down to the point where they have to leave.

No one seems to care about advancing the conversation in fact the conversation seems to be the last thing on any ones mind.

It quickly degenerates into a feeding frenzy of stupid sarcastic statements and of course the never ending insults.

I remember before we had moderators and before the “Dynamic Duo” arrived that this board was a much more "tolerant" and friendly place.

You're confusing tolerance with censorship.

You have a right to your opinion. Others have a right to either agree or be critical of that opinion.

That's how free speech works.

Your sensitivity over alleged ad hominem attacks only reinforces who are the real snowflakes.

HINT: It isn't the lefties.

Is "tolerant and friendly" what you want? The "other board' certainly is neither...at least not if you're a non-conservative. So tolerant that I made one post there some weeks ago and it was instantly deleted...so friendly you have a multi-page thread where all you do is hurl insults at people who can't even defend themselves. How noble of you all.

And you pat yourselves on the back for how wonderful your new forum is...what a joke. Are you having fun being in a place where everyone agrees with you?

BTW, not even having the guts to name names makes it difficult to give your concerns much credence.

Let’s cut to the chase...

Donald Trump IS NOT, HAS NEVER BEEN AND WILL NEVER BE... A Conservative. He has NO discernible ideology.

Ben Shapiro? Ann Coulter? Shock Jocks, pure and simple.

Tell me, when has a True Conservative been heckled off the stage? Bill Kristol, George Will... I could go on and on. Oh, are they just snowflake Republicans who are never Trumpers so they can’t be real conservatives?

What would William F. Buckley have to say about the state of “conservatism” and the GOP today?

So quit wrapping yourself in the cloak the poor battered wife Conservative.

I beg for coherent and fact-laden rebuttals to my assertions on this board every day, but alas I get none. I get regurgitated propaganda and parroted Trump catch-phrases.

For god sakes... learn to think for yourself. It’s liberating.

CONSERVATIVE Tucker Carlson says, in spite of ALL FACTUAL EVIDENCE TO THE CONTRARY, that the problem of White Nationalism/Supremacy in America is a HOAX.

Do the “conservatives” on this board agree with this characterization? Even though such an assertion is proven demonstrably false by virtue of FBI statistics (not to mention numerous other indicators)?

And while we’re on the subject of “conservatives”, whatever happened to one of the cornerstones of conservatism, fiscal responsibility? It been eschewed in favor of sycophantic political expediency?

Conservatives??? What a joke. Buckley is turning in his grave.

It's written in the URL (occonnect.com/community/), the title (Orange County [adjectives purposely omitted] Forums) and the tag line (Where everyone's entitled to an opinion, no matter how wrong it may be). It's also mentioned in a few places in The Rules, something some other sites don't have and some (8chan just now, Reddit in the past) are figuring out might not be such a bad thing.

Notice that the tag line uses the word "opinion" and that it doesn't protect the poster from others pointing out "how wrong his opinion may be". That's what community forums are supposed to be about.
