Trump Campaign Runs Ads Falsely Accusing Biden of Using Teleprompter on James Corden's Show

The Trump campaign is running attack ads -- versions of which are appearing on Facebook, YouTube, and Google -- that wrongly allege that Biden used a teleprompter in an April interview he did, via computer connection from his Delaware home, with James Corden, host of the "Late Late Show" on CBS.

Corden himself debunked this allegation on his show last week -- after Trump retweeted a tweet in which a Republican National Committee official, Steve Guest, also made the false claim. Corden explained that the image in the reflection showed his own teleprompter text, which was visible on the screens of his guests who connected to the show remotely.

By Thursday, the Trump campaign was paying Facebook thousands of dollars to run ads with the false teleprompter claim. Just one campaign ad buy, of up to $15,000, resulted in a video version of the ad clocking more than 800,000 views on Facebook.

The ad was being viewed most frequently in the swing states of Florida, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Wisconsin, and Ohio, according to Facebook's ad database.

The Trump campaign was also targeting swing states with the ads on Google.

Facebook, Google and YouTube do not fact check politicians' ads and videos.

It'll be interesting to see what Biden's strategy will be. It's a given that Donald will be unprepared and lying his ass off, so will Biden fact-check him? If he does, will he go into detail or will he just say "that's a lie" or "Obama did that"? His advisers have told him not to let Donald get under his skin. Will he? Will he be critical or hopeful or a combination of both? He's a slow talkin' kind of guy; how will that play with Donald interrupting?

Either way, I'll predict that they'll both win with their supporters and the debate won't move the needle for either one.

Oh. And will Biden mention that he's Catholic?

What a train wreck. I needed a shower after watching that. Our President needs to do a much better job at the next two debates. Washington DC is one big money laundering machine and Trump being an outsider needs to push that. If I was VP Biden I would turn down the next two debates and play it safe.
