Omar Bongo wrote: Wed Oct 21, 2020 3:22 pm What, did you have a class in college where the professor said "ok guys - no teaching these four months - just come up with original thoughts".

Yeah, actually I did. Apparently you didn't, which explains a lot.

You know, it's not rocket science ventura. Posting bare links on the one hand and name calling and insults on the other are some pretty wide goalposts. It's not that hard to kick the ball somewhere between the two once in a while...
Now that professor had a good gig. On my tax dollar. Figures.

I get worked up and can sling out an insult which is usually unproductive. Guilty as charged. You apparently are saying none have been thrown at me. I'm not going to fact check you. Either way, yes, it's unproductive.

But the wide goalposts comment would need some verification from you. If characterizing most of my opponents on this board as lefties is name calling, then yes, you got me. I rarely post bare links and they are (I think) germane to the topic at least tangentially, illustrating a point in the thread I'm trying to make. Why do you have a problem with that? Rather than address the point I'm trying to make, you and Wabash accuse me of not having an original thought. Is that not throwing an insult? Isn't that another way of calling me a dumb****?

What do you think about the science of when human life begins? Original thoughts only please.

What do you think about whether or not socialism works? Original thoughts only please.

What do you think about American imperialism? Original thoughts only please.

What do you think about whether or not there is a "swamp" to drain (something I don't think any president has even dared mention - I believe JFK said he was going to take down the CIA, but is there anything else?) If there is a swamp to drain, what do you think either party has done accomplish that in the past few decades? Original thoughts only please.

I think I've commented on these topics and linked pertinent information on them, and I think they all are topics in this election. I come down on Trump's side in each, despite how painful his personality is. I haven't voted for a Rebublican pres. for ages before Trump, but the stakes seem different now. And again, I HATE politicians as a general rule. He's not.

"I'm sick and tired of hearing things
From uptight, short-sighted, narrow-minded hypocritics
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth
I've had enough of reading things
By neurotic, psychotic, pig-headed politicians
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth"

Trump has done a couple of good things.

He has revealed the situational morality and patriotism of conservatives. Specifically evangelicals.

I am grateful.

Since that has been done, it is time to send him packing.
They told me if I voted for Hillary Clinton the president would be emotional, impulsive, and unpredictable. They were right. I voted for Hillary Clinton and got a president that is emotional, impulsive, and unpredictable.

That's actually sort of a Rule here. Expecting people to leave and come back is no way to have a discussion.

I know. They have no idea.

As one of the former posters used to say.

It pegs the needle on the ironometer.

QUOTE, please.

The difference is I explain what I'm saying and then link to the supporting evidence, instead of just posting a link and telling people to go there to find out what "I" think

I was referring to stuff like this...how is this productive? Are these the words of one who wishes to encourage discussion?

From my glance at this board I see it's dominated by the top tier of the hopelessly clueless, college indoctrinated crop.

give me one original thought anyone on this board has ever had

Geez you leftists are close minded.

Eyes closed tightly and hands clamped firmly on both ears.

I got one of you robots to listen for 7 minutes.

Moronic response. SMH

Your are snarky, clever, and have lots of fluff, and no wisdom.

The #1 biggest thing Trump has done is point out how many of the ways that the Executive branch is run that aren't codified but really should be. Also, that the agencies in charge of investigating wrongdoing by the Executive maybe shouldn't be under his control. And what a shoddy law the 25th Amendment is.

You're right, my bad.

Instead of "original thought" please tell me something I haven't already heard from other conservatives. It seems Thomas Sowell is a popular figure among conservatives and I've read a lot of his writings and selected posts from people who seem to regard him as a great thinker. You seem to think you're introducing him here for the first time...I can assure you you're not.

Amazing idiocy from Trump White House yesterday. Leslie Stahl shows up for her 60 Minutes interview. Press secretary Kayleigh McEnany hands her this enormous book which she says is all the work they’ve done on healthcare. OOF! It’s a HEAVY BOOK!!! Wow they must have been doing a TON of work on healthcare!!! Except... OH NO... Stahl, who in her expert investigative reporter way decides to OPEN THE BOOK, finds that all the book’s pages are... simply blank.

We'll see. Half of me thinks there's a slight chance he might take the advice of his advisors who are reportedly telling him to cool it and try to appeal to the middle just a wee bit...but if I was in Vegas I know which way I'd be betting

Simply blank for me, my small business, and my employees, would have been so welcome compared to what Obama did. Our health care costs almost triple, we can barely afford to give it to our employees, and it SUCKS. One of our favorite employees is having a horrible time getting anything done, and she can barely walk. Believe me, it sucks.

I know it's a small sample. It's just my business. But for my business, "if you want to keep your health care plan, you keep your health care plan" was a big, SICKENING, lie. Thanks, Barack. Liar. Something I've come to expect from politicians. Obama, exhibit A, politician. He makes Clinton and the Bush family proud. "Read my lips...no new taxes." (Bush Sr., I believe - hiked taxes - horrible person). Politicians. Among the worst human beings walking the earth. Vote Trump.

You left off the part where the GOP has had almost ten years to fix it and done nothing.

The reviews are coming in...

From Business Insider Magazine:

Trump Was His Own Worst Nightmare at the Final Debate: Low Energy and Boring

...faced with a competent moderator and the threat of a mute button, he was as neutered as any untalented bully would be. All he could do was resort to his well-worn act of pat insults that barely landed.

The Guardian (UK)

Biden Mauls Trump's Record on Coronavirus in Final Presidential Debate

“It will go away,” Trump said...even as cases have started rising again across the US and public health experts warn that the US is on the precipice of a dangerous new wave.“We’re rounding the corner,” he added.

Biden said: “220,000 deaths. If you hear nothing else I say tonight, hear this. Anyone who is responsible for that many deaths should not remain as president of the United States.”

US News and World Report:

A Muted Trump Tones it Down in the Final Debate Against Biden

Trump, repeating the claim he has made at his rallies, said "I am the least racist person in this room," and said "not since Abraham Lincoln," who freed the slaves, have Black people had such an ally as president.

An incredulous Biden noted Trump's Muslim ban, refusal at the first debate to denounce the white supremacist group the Proud Boys, and then-candidate Trump's reference to Mexicans as "criminals" and "rapists."

"Come on. This guy is a dog whistle about as big as a bullhorn," Biden said.
