Is there a simple list of Olympics coverage anywhere?

Post by John Q. Public » Mon Feb 10, 2014 8:25 am

Just something simple that I can print and keep by the TV? Or do I have to make my own? NBC has a page with only the channels with Olympic coverage but it doesn't look especially printable and it only shows 3 hours at a time. And forget about trying to scroll through 1000 channels on the TV. I usually give up after 100 channels or end up watching some show about cute little puppies on Animal Planet.

Boy I miss the old days when you could just flip through 3 pages of the TV Glide and plan your whole day's viewing.

I feign technological ignorance....the bride takes care of TV planning, taping, and viewing...curling is on later this afternoon....I think.

I have been using the SEARCH function on DirecTV to find Olympics coverage. It isn't what you are looking for but it should help. Once you've done the search once you can return to recent searches each subsequent time. It will provide a list of all channels with coverage for the day, the next day and the next. It works different on each of my boxes, depending on what DirecTV box I am searching from. Your mileage may vary as well.

Curling - Noon on NBCSN (I don't think we get it) - USA vs. SUI (women's)
2:00 PM - CNBC - USA vs. NOR (men's)

Can't wait. It should be exciting!

I agree with your comment on curling. Interesting game. Lots of strategy and gamesmanship coupled with a need for the skill to execute.

I still haven't quite figured out the scoring or half of the terms they use. They keep talking about "The Hammer" but I have no idea what that is. But calling the center of the circle the button is kind of cute. Very Midwestern. Sounds like something my mother would have said.

And that ninny doing the commentary for the skeleton is going to make me throw a brick through my brand new TV. She keeps saying things like "you can see the determination in her eyes" when you can't even see her eyes. :steam: Thankfully they turned up the crowd noise for the last few runs and I couldn't hear her very well.

I couldn't help but notice NBC isn't using any kind of computer graphics. The ski jump would be perfect for the magic first down line thingy but they don't have anything like it. I haven't seen them use anything like that in any events. Odd.

And as soon as I say NBC isn't using any computer graphics I see them in the Super G and speed skating.

The Foreign Babe thinks the short-track skating should be like a drag race to eliminate the luck factor. Funny sport. A bunch of people going way too fast on a track that's way too small. It's like if NASCAR ran all their races at Bristol.

Funny that the gold and silver in the 1500 went to guys skating for Russia because their home countries "dumped" them.
