Stunningly stupid and irresponsible.

I really can't imagine what they were thinking to report that. They were going to be let off relatively easy considering. They had paid their 50 bucks and we're back safe and had time to sober up before saying anything.

His brain must have been waterlogged. What an embarrassment.

It would be one thing if he was some college-aged yahoo without much worldliness. But he's 32 years old and on his third Olympics. How many international events has he been to?

I've always been a huge Ryan Lochte fan. But after this brain fart, it's too bad he isn't three years older -- he'd be the perfect running mate for The Donald.

He'd be tremendous for his youth outreach program, though. Tremendous. The best. He's a winner.

I agree. I like guys who can be the best in the game and still be so self-deprecating. I read somewhere that he's the second-most decorated Olympic swimmer in history. So like he said in that one interview, "If there had never been a Michael Phelps, I'd be Michael Phelps".

Unfortunately, like most fish, he's not all that cerebral.

Let's put this in perspective..............Lochte lies and it's a big deal. Clinton lies all the time and it's not.......

False equivalency. The expectations of athletes representing the country are much different than they are for elected officials.

A better comparison would be the response to Lochte's behavior versus the reaction to Gabriel Douglas' not putting her hand over her heart during the national anthem.

No it's not. Perhaps Lochte should announce he's a Democrat and running for office, and it'll all go away.

Which doesn't change Lochte's boorish behavior.

Clearly an attempt to hijack the thread. SBH, this is disappointing...you're better than this.

He is continuing to try and weasel out of this saying he didn't lie. He mischaracterized it. Perhaps to him it seemed like a shakedown. It's not like you are going to have a security guard pulling a gun on you here in the US when you are in a cab, despite whatever shenanigans you may have pulled . Not trying to defend the guy but that does seem to be his defense.

If that's true, it's one of the saddest commentaries on modern America that I've ever read. If we expect more honesty and integrity from an ignorant jock than from the statesmen running for our highest offices, maybe all hope is lost.

The topic is Lochte's and buddies boorish behavior.

Let's get back to that.
