Wouldn't Marina Del Rey or Channel Islands be closer for you?

I am between sunset and long beach. Willing to commute to Newport slips. Not willing to hit the 405.

Jilly,

I'm glad you posted this. I have a spot for your scooner in front of my lovely Huntington beach home. It's a quiet neighborhood. You can park it right in front of my garage. But you have to move it each morning by 7 a.m. when I leave for work. I don't mind if you live on the boat or bring the family. The schools are great and it's walking distance to a liqour store and the 99 Cent Store.

I must warn you there is a cop that lives two houses down. He's not a bad guy though. I usually call him each night a 2 a.m. from the bar and he will pick me up in his police cruiser. He lets me blare the siren and most of the time he doesn't even use handcuffs on me.

Let me know if you want the slip. The asking price is $500 a month. But I will consider trades.

NUG. I have a driveway. That is the mess I am in right now because of HOA nazi laws. Association says I have to move it. It would not make sense for me to move my boat everytime you needed to get to your car. At 500 a month? Next, HB completely slipped my mind. Does HB have any sort of harbor or bay inlet? I know near the wetlands there is a small harbor is that private? Thank you for your kindness. Plus, I have a friend in Norco that has a truck that moves my boat for me but I have to give ample notice. I drive a small fiat.

I'm glad to hear you are interested in parking your boat in my driveway. Although it's not a slip persee, it does have many advantages. Sometime I make eggs in the morning. I also have a pig farm in the backyard. I cut all my bacon fresh. I realize $500 is a lot to ask. But I could sweeten the deal with fresh breakfast every morning. I will also throw in a copy of the book "Who Moved My Cheese." I never have any problem finding my cheese so I don't have much use for this book anymore. I know what you are thinking. I probably have a dairy farm in my backyard too. I don't.

The only stipulation to my offer is you stay away from the pigs. My last 'tenant" was a little to friendly with the swine if you know what I mean. He paid on time though.

If you want to use the pig slough to dump dead bodies I'm sorry to inform you we do not offer that service. I can recommend a good place if you like.

Do zoning laws in HB allow this? Are you in a Homeowner's Assoc? It just does not make sense for me to be off the water. My fiat cannot tow it. Anyways you sound like a wonderful host. Sidebar, I am allergic to dairy products and do not eat pork.

Thats right! I need to come over to pick up the 2 pounds of bacon you promised. Is it ready?

There are no apparent zoning laws in my neighborhood. My neighbor's children operate a lemonade stand and I'm certain they do not have permits. Another neighbor has a 1986 Mercedes parked right on the street. I'm pretty sure it's about the same dimensions as your boat. There is also a toxic waste dump nearby where you can dump the sewage from the schooners facilities.

There is no HOA. This is a real American neighborhood. HOA's are for Communists and botox recipients. No gates. No guards. It's quiet. The only sounds you'll hear are lawnmowers, barking dogs, whistles from the nearby football practices and the occasional domestic violence dispute. You'll get used to the screaming after about six months.

I'll go ahead and send a bill for $500 to get started. The Who Moved My Cheese book will be shipped in 4-6 weeks. I'll also throw in 3 tablets of Dramamine and a pair of navy blue Sperry Topsiders (size 12) if you mail your payment today.

This just won't work. I spoke to Harold my friend in Norco and there is no way he can drive down to move the boat each day. I reallly need a slip in HB or Newport. Newport is nice but so is HB. I wish you lived on the water but I worry about football practices being so close anyways. I bet between my writings and thesis work that I would be wandering over to practice out of addiction to the game. Anyways NUG, best of luck on the farm. You did mention domestic disputes. I had a friend that got into big news on one of those deals. Have a great weekend. I am taking the boat out on Saturday and Harold is coming down from Norco. We are going to scout some locations and will visit the Bay Club and the Newport Dunes boat yard plus a trip to the Davey's Locker area in Newport. We also found a resident in a place called Dover Shores on Galaxy Drive that might lease us a slip that faces something called the upper newport bay.

NUG, if you were not pulliing my leg. I am having a gathering of HOBIECATS and although I am not a dairy man, do you really have some home spun cheese. Fetta? I want to showcase my new boat coming in a month and wanted to have a bit of a party with some fun new cheeses. Thanks.
