Do you take malaria meds before/during/after Jamaica? We were in the BVI's about 10 years ago and I took it, a guy on the trip didn't and actually got sick (real sick)

I have been to Jamaica 10+ times and have NEVER gotten sick.
Stick to the food at the resort and rum and you will be fine

(cut and pasted from a March thread titled Summer Vacations)

We just purchased our tickets to Bangkok. The plan is to use Bangkok as the hub and travel through SE Asia for most of July. I'm still in the process of putting together a loose itenerary to outline the places we will visit. So far the definate go to places are:

Cambodia -Siem Reap (Ankor Wat, floating villiages), Phnom Penh (The Killing fields, Royal Palace, Wat Phnom)
Thailand -Bangkok (I can only handle a day or so of this place), Patong Beach, Phi Phi Island, Krabi

(new material)

We leave in exactly 20 days. On a normal day I'm logging at least 3 hours a day researching. Trip Adviser, Lonely Planet, creepy Expat forums, various travel blogs, weather reports, and the F-ing hotel review sites. F the hotel review people, I don't trust them at all. Pretty sure my tastes are going to differ a tad bit from Helen the 58 year old divorced Scandinavian former house wife. Oh yeah, travel books on the beach all weekend. Needless to say I'm ready to go.

Timing out the flights (8) was tough. Turns out I'm a terrible flight planner. The wife is too busy to deal with the planning so hopefully she will understand I tried my best. A few uncomfortable lay overs will just make us appreciate the final destination that much more.

We're just a few weeks out from our cruise to Alaska. It's a bit pricey but we don't often do full-blown vacations so we decided to endulge a little this one last time.

Starting to get a bit nervous though as we are still waiting on two passports and don't have our flights yet, but we've still got time.

The River is The River so it's a toss up. They both have strong points.

Laughlin: Loser Lounge, margaritas at Harrahs, gambling with old people, bad cheap food everywhere, ugly people watching
Havafew: Kokomos, Pirate Cove, sandbar, pasties, beer bongs, new style Brazilian cut bathing suits, I.E tatted up juice heads driving $200k boats with ghost flames.

Does sunscreen stop tattoos from fading in the sun?

Yes, you will probably get some bites.
Make sure you bring some repellent with you just in case your resort does not have it available.
