HSFB officiating is so bad these days it’s an epidemic. These guys are simply too old, too lazy, too indicisive, not knowledgeable, too emotional, too random or all of the above. The MD IMG game, pretty much every game involving Bosco, and a bunch of big games last year were disgracefully affected by terrible officiating. The White Hat shouldn’t be featured on a TV game (or live game) more than any player.

The amount of trash talking and showboating that goes on with kids today is ridiculous. Aside from calls regarding helmet-to-helmet contact, the officiating is the same as it's always been.

No it’s much MUCH worse. The game is simply too fast and too complicated for the unpaid volunteers being asked to show up on Fall fridays after receiving little to no training over the summer.

And it’s not at all just about the targeting issues, nor just about trash talk or showboating, which have existed forever and aren’t any bigger issue now than they were when teams like Poly, MD, Amat, Eisenhower and Rialto Carter were jaw jacking, eye gouging and dancing in the end zones in the 90s.

The fall back method of officiating these days is “throw the flag and maybe fix it later.” It’s lazy, unacceptable, and ridiculous, and with no college style replay it’s constantly affecting the outcome of games. As a HSFB fan it’s infuriating.

Huddling up for 5 minutes after the 29th penalty of the night isn’t going to fix the terrible call that someone who couldn’t see the play and doesn’t know the rules just made that took a TD away.

Damn, Troy did Rollo like that? The whole Servite staff? Whoa. Sounds like Troy and staff are at least contributing some old fashioned, awkward bitterness and animosity back into to the rivalry, if not points (yet). Fun. #Chills

Does anyone know why this game was scheduled as the opener of League, rather than at the end of the season?

Pluesee, at the end of the day you need the Jimmy's and the Joe's.... the Strength and Conditioning coach is the cherry on top. Mercenary Dei tired of getting their butts kicked by Bosco with a team full hard working Steele Dubar types essentially opened up the check book on tuition assistance Sr xfers and has become IMG West. If Scott was such a miracle worker he'd be at SC. Let's keep it real, give credit to where it's due MD's outreach program led by MDBagman

LOL “Steele Dubar-types.”

Thomas Duarte. Jonathan Lockett. Malik McMorris. Ben Humphreys. Curtis Robinson. Frank Martin. All Americans. FBS Power 5 recruits.

Those 4 year MD players were the “Steele Dubar-types” that SJB was beating before MD transformed into Voltron?

No. Give Bosco their credit. They didn’t beat a bunch of undersized fringe D1 prospects at MD for titles. MD had program-built superstars and All Americans before the last two years of increased transfers were added to the mix to get over the hump.

And the Braves beat them. Never mind they were using a ton of star transfers of their own to do it. It wasn’t David v Goliath.

I give Bosco and Lap Band Negro all the credit in the world in jumping the shark .... ransacking Lakewood High for Wadood, the bank robber DE, throw in Damian Mama from Clovis etc etc until they got their pipeline going from the greater Long Beach area. MD has always been a good to great a team full of Robbie Boyer's with a mix of studs like Groots, Duarte, Robinson Vandermade etc.... but now in order to compete with Bosco it's now a bunch of hired guns with one or two Robbie Boyer types. Seriously how many of the staring 22 at both Bosco and MD are paying full tuition or even half?

Are the Rancho Cucamonga kids gonna xfer back to RC in the Spring semester..... are they really gonna graduate from MD in the Spring? That's a serious question .... service hours, theology classes?

Joefutbol is correct. Servite-Mater Dei was the last game of the league schedule last year, so it goes to the top of the league schedule this year.

LOL the bank robber (Chandler Leniu) was a LB at Bosco, not a DE. The official scorer over there had him down for like 559 tackles on that 2013 team. And don’t question it, that stat guy is a very sensitive member here and “has been here a long time” and “seen people come and go.” He’ll get chapped-cheeks if you ever question his Braves!

Damien Mama is from Moreno Valley, not Clovis. Was a 3 and out player at USC starting on that Rose Bowl winner. Lost track of him but I’m sure he’s on his way to an All Pro NFL career.

Surprised that you forgot Naijiel “Baby Nate Dogg” Hale coming over from Lakewood with Wadood and Leniu ... before becoming a Bosco Army All American ... getting kicked off the team at UW for smoking too much evergreen ... then getting arrested and kicked off a team again in Montana for being the Pill Plug at MSU.

Serious question related to the above serious question ... does anyone know of any of the many Trinity Lg transfers, including Mater Dei’s recent ones, that did NOT GRADUATE from their new school or returned to their former schools after the football season?

I only know of one TL star that had to leave his school after football season and graduate from his local public school, and he hadn’t been a transfer into that particular TL a school before all that happened.

More importantly ... did Jason Negro really have Lap Band surgery a la Rex Ryan?

Buck, a better question would be "how many of the starting 22 at ANY of the Trinity League schools are paying full tuition or even half?" Anyone who knows anything about this subject already knows the answer, which I think probably leaves you in the dark.

Red, I agree. Servite was outgunned, but played with intensity and a swarming style on defense that will help them in the future. They proved that having less talent is only a reason to play harder.

On the other hand, I thought Mater Dei played with little discipline, little respect for the game and the opponent, and at times, low football IQ. All that has got to improve.

I didn't see that, but...You don't suppose the last seven Monarch offensive plays had anything to do with it do you?

After a blocked punt put MD on the Servite 20 yd line:

1. Pass 18 yds to the 2. 1st and goal.
2. Pass into the end zone. incomplete and a 5 yd penalty.
3. Pass into the end zone. incomplete.
4. Pass into the end zone. offensive pass interference.
5. Pass into the flat incomplete.
6. Pass 20 yds complete to the 2 yd line.
7. Pass into the end zone incomplete.

All that while leading 35-0. Servite took over on downs and let the last 19 seconds run out.
