Coach O just articulated what's taking place on the scheduling front. If this were some baggage-laden backup level NFL QB who couldn't get a job, you'd think there was collusion amongst the HS coaches who have chosen to allow the xfer inclined schools to seek games elsewhere.

Thank You Coach Ortiz! Tell the all-star teams to look elsewhere. Don't schedule teams with built-in unfair advantages.

Good for these two schools..... out of other options....! So does CC have a fighting chance? Game 0 of the season?

I love it. They played pre-league games every year from 2007 to 2011 and again in 2014. They split them 3-3 and the games were always exciting. Great way to start the season!

Anyone have confirmation on the rumored road game between MD and an Arizona team?

Also, any other Bosco preseason games confirmed besides Paramount and Don Bosco Prep?

JSerra schedule is out
@Salt Lake City East,
vs. Milton (GA) @ Bosco,
vs. St. Joseph's (NJ) in San Diego,
home vs. Amat,
home vs. Calabasas,
home vs. SM,
home vs. Bosco,
@Servite,
@OLU,
@Mater Dei.

Say what you wish about what's happening in SJC, that will again be one of the toughest schedule in the country. 6 teams in the top 100 of last season's maxpreps final rankings (Milton, St. Josephs, Amat, Calabasas, Bosco, Mater Dei) + the trinity league.

That’s nice when you can play top national opponents from New Jersey and Georgia and not even leave SoCal. Their only other road trip outside of OC is the Utah game.

Interested to see who the Lions end up going with at QB. A lot of young talent on that team.

Hearing that Mater Dei is attempting to finalize a pre league game against Washington DC Saint Johns College HS.

St Johns has been nationally ranked for the last several years, including in 2017 when they hosted Bosco in 100 degree heat and lost on a late TD drive led by then-backup DJ Uiagalelei in his first significant action.

SJC beat then-top 10 Miami Central HS in 5OTs in early 2018 and was ranked in the top 5 nationally for most of last season, before losing the DC Catholic league championship to rival Gonzaga. Still finished 9-1 and in the top 10-20 of nearly every major national poll.

Returns several D1 prospects led by WR Rakim Jarrett and LB Mikhail Sherman, both 5 star recruits ranked among the nation’s top 25 prospects. QB Sol Jay Maiava, who transferred prior to last season from Hawaii Kahuku HS to get mainland recruiting exposure, has several FBS offers including Michigan, Oregon, UVA, Utah and BYU.

“Confirmation” here isn’t exactly final confirmation. This is an anonymous fan discussion board. Not exactly the Sports Information Directors Council.

A lot of what’s contributed here is treated as a rumor or opinion until confirmed by the schools, individuals, or a respectable news outlet. That’s kind of part of the deal. Doesn’t bother me; there are many other mediums for finalized information.

*BTW, Monarchs schedule is indeed beginning to look murderous. Especially with their apparent change in roster philosophy.

True. St. Johns DC is on schedule part of ESPN televised classic. MD needs to add two more games. CIF screwed up the Gorman game when they chose to change the start of the season again this coming year. Gorman is trying to move games around to fit the game in. The week that got reshuffled, Gorman is going to Hawaii..

Contract has been signed between Mater Dei and Arizona 5A state champ Centennial of Peoria for Week 2, Sept. 6 (in Arizona - potential national TV game per article) ...

https://www.azcentral.com/story/sports/ ... 954515002/

Peoria Centennial coach Richard Taylor says in the article that “I think (MD is) looking for an easy victory; the following week they go to Washington D.C. to play DeMatha HS. We’re kind of like NAU playing ASU.”

Aside from the interesting self-motivational quote, he has MD’s schedule incorrect. They are set to play St. Frances Academy of Baltimore the following week, in the Trinity v. USA showcase at Bosco (Sat Sept 14).

Regardless of date, this is the first I’ve heard about a MD-DeMatha matchup. Monarchs are rumored to be playing DeMatha’s league rival instead, national power St. John’s, on an undetermined date.

MD taking on maybe the nation’s toughest schedule, again. Peoria Centennial is one of the most successful programs in Arizona this century.

Seven states titles since 2006. Has appeared in five consecutive state title games. Back to back defending 5A champs, also won Div 2 title in 2014 and Div 1 title in 2015 before realignment.

Centennial has been willing to challenge top out of state programs from around the country ... as long as it’s a home game in the late summer desert heat.

In 2015, the Coyotes lost their season opener 13-12 to nationally ranked Long Beach Poly in Peoria, a game Poly later forfeited due to the use of an ineligible player (no valid change of residence).

In 2017, Centennial hosted then-defending Florida 7A state champ and perennial national power St Thomas Aquinas, a month after STA had beaten Bosco. Aquinas was ranked #3 nationally behind only Mater Dei and IMG, and on a 14 game winning streak. Centennial shut them out, winning 12-0. Considered by locals one of the biggest out of state wins ever by an Arizona team.

Last year Centennial hosted now 10-time defending Nevada state champ Bishop Gorman, again in August, the week after MD obliterated Gorman 42-0. Centennial won 13-7.

After going 14-0 and winning their fourth state title in five years, Centennial lost a home game (this time in December) in the Geico State Champions Series to Washington state champ Eastside Catholic, 17-0.

Centennial has no returning senior ranked among the top 40 recruits in the state for the class of 2020, but also had no seniors in Arizona’s top 50 on last season’s state champ.

Coach Taylor obviously hoping to catch a distracted MD on a hot desert night in a low scoring defensive battle.
