I think playing traditional league rival games like Mater Dei-Servite (or many others) as a league opener is dumb.
I don’t care what the justification is, including an arbitrary league rotation scheme. The non-rival games in any league could easily be rotated while keeping the traditional rival games on a consistent date, either as the final game or at least later in the season. I’m not the only one who feels that way. And others can disagree.
I feel the same way about major college rivalries that were or still are traditionally played on the same date, many on the final week of the season. Some are played on other weeks like Notre Dame-SC in October or Alabama-Tennessee on the third Saturday of October.
But don’t fret credofriar, The Bagpipers will have an annual opportunity to get beaten into submission by the Monarchs no matter which week the game is rotated to.
