A TL parent sees Texas HSFB live for the first time-observations
Re: A TL parent sees Texas HSFB live for the first time-observations
I am originally from Michigan and lived in Florida for 8 years, Texas for 3 years, now I am here going on my second year. I have worked for the same company for over 25 years.
I am Big High School Football fan. In my younger years enjoyed watching ball in Ohio, PA, MI, then was asked to move to Florida and then to Texas, and now beautiful Southern California.
I enjoy watching MD/SJB play and have figured out that Triniy league is the best football in this state.
Overall, I do not see much difference in the best teams here as I witnessed in Florida or Texas.

in other words-the gap between top level (say SJB/MD) and lower D-1 through D3-4 is much less here than the equivalent in FL and TX?

Please explain what you are saying.

Mater Dei and Bosco are obviously the best teams here.
Which teams did you witness in Florida and Texas that you believe were not much different than this year’s MD/SJB teams? And in what years did you see those teams?
Re: A TL parent sees Texas HSFB live for the first time-observations
This only my 2nd season in California, so I am not qualified to discuss teams who do not play SJB or MD. All the games I have seen in person have involved one of them.

I would need to research the years to be spot on
STA FL, Miami Central, Booker T Washington and obviously IMG have been really good. STA around 2009 or 2010 might be the best team I have ever seen.
Katy, Allen, Trinity, North Shore and others - Katy had team few year back that had the best defense I have personally seen.
I have been very impressed with MD and SJB

The 2008 team went 15-0 playing an almost exclusively in-state schedule and finished # 1 per MaxPrepsMoose wrote:STA around 2009 or 2010 might be the best team I have ever seen.
The 2010 team also went 15-0 but finished 4th nationally

The best teams that Miami has produced in the last 20 years (Central, BTW, NW) wouldn’t beat either MD or Bosco this year. Not seeing even the best St Thomas Aquinas teams beating them either.
Mater Dei beat an IMG team last year that was as talented as any IMG has had, shortly before getting destroyed by Bosco on their own field. IMG is really good every year, but that and their long winning streak over other state’s best team obviously didn’t help them beat California’s best.
I don’t believe any of the Texas teams listed above, from any recent year, aside from maybe 2013 Allen with Kyler Murray, would be on par with this years MD and Bosco.

Southlake Carroll Dragons beat district rival Byron Nelson High 49-0 to move to 6-0. Quinn Ewers and his flowing mullet had 289 yds passing and 3 TDs.
Yes you read that right, there is a high school in Carroll’s district named after golf legend Byron Nelson, located in a town called “Trophy Club, Texas.”

I can see this kid being courted by "others". But I can also see a couple more being courted the same...to MD or SJB types. Will he actually move is the question.
