OC Fair stops letting veterans into the fair at no charge

Post by cruiser »

..for years and years, the powers that be, let veterans into the OC Fair at no charge, this year the OC Fair is making them pay to get in - how dis-respectful for a STATE run
organization to do this and for what reason ? - to make a few extra bucks off the backs
of the men and women that make it possible to have the freedom to be able to
have an OC Fair! Is it just me or can the OC Fair powers that be show just a minimum of
gratitude for the men and women who have defending this country so you and I can
enjoy the freedoms we have - I mean, it's not like a veteran can get his family or
friends in for no charge, it's just the veteran by him or herself that get the no
charge courtesy. What OC Fair committee/person made this call to abandon the military courtesy? I mean, these people would still be spending money inside the fair. Who made
this call and why?

Percentage of Americans who are veterans - 7%. The number in OC is probably lower. The number in OC who knew about the discount was probably even lower. I've paid when I've gone.

Yup. Dumb idea but it makes me wonder if other fairs do that. I've never seen it at the LA County Fair. But don't get me started on it. For some reason they thought moving it from September to April or May or whenever it was was a good idea. And then there was their "mini-fair" with just rides and $20 burgers. The people running fairs seem to have forgotten what they're about. :steam:

To quote the 10 term GOP Representative from OC, Dana Rohrbacher.

"Did they volunteer?"

Why should they be given a discount not available to anyone else?

...to top it off, the OCFair powers that be, are making ACTIVE military
personnel pay to get in for the first time. I guess it is what it is.

I get the feeling everybody's trying to make up for the last two years all at once.
