Seems like a good fit. Big, strong kid, rocked up like a tight end when you stand next to him. Not at the level of a Tetairoa McMillan, although I hear TMac is just a good HS player who should stick to volleyball at the next level lol. 🙄 Booher should play well in the Big Sky Conference for however long he’s there.

Mater Dei WR CJ Williams told the Notre Dame coaching staff today that he is not coming to South Bend. Just took an unofficial visit to SC on Sunday after the state title game, his second visit to SC in as many weeks. Williams is expected to sign with the Trojans and officially announce it at the All American Game on January 8; enrolling next month. Domani Jackson, David Bailey, and Raleek Brown were also on the SC campus on Sunday with a ton of other recruits both local and national.

Was really impressed with Scripps Ranch Junior QB Jax Leatherwood. Good arm talent, footwork, mobility, release, and a still growing 6-6 frame on a kid who also plays basketball at a high level. Came up Clutch to lead his team on a 2 minute game winning drive to win a state title. One to watch in 2022 in his senior year.

The #1 prospect in the nation Travis Hunter of Collins Hill (GA) has decided to sign with Deion Sanders and Jackson State (currently 11-1 and the #1 HBCU football program) over Florida State (and everyone else). Wow. Deion said in 2020 that he planned to convince 5-star prospects to go a different route for college. Apparently he wasn’t bluffing.

DL Ta'ita'i Uiagalelei of Mater Dei decommits from Washington State and joins the Servite group and the other SoCal kids in signing with the Arizona Wildcats. U of A recently hired former USC/UCLA assistant and ace recruiter Johnny Nansen as its new defensive coordinator.

As of now, Tetairoa McMillan is still expected to sign with Oregon and not join his teammates in Tuscon.

Cam Sidney (Cal commit) and Tetairoa McMillan (Oregon commit) did not sign today. Speedy Luke signed but will not announce until January 8 in San Antonio. Rumored to be either Louisville or Arizona-bound.

Elias Ricks just announced his transfer from LSU to Alabama, choosing the Crimson Tide over SC and Ohio State. “Eli” came back to visit SC two weeks ago after Lincoln Riley was hired with Domani Jackson, Raleek Brown (SC signee), David Bailey (Stanford signee), CJ Williams (announcing at the AA Bowl), Mason Graham (Michigan signee), Hero Kanu (announcing at the AA Bowl), Matayo Uiagalelei, the Los Al trio and a bunch of other local recruits.

Was thought by some that Bama “wouldn’t have room for Ricks,” but apparently the numbers worked out based on Bama’s class signings today. Nick Saban tends to make room for future 1st round corners and I’m sure Bryce was in his ear as well. An Alabama beat writer said Domani had picked out a roommate at Bama after his visit for the LSU game and was set to move to Tuscaloosa in January before Lincoln Riley’s hire, but is now expected to recommit on Friday to play for the Trojans. And to likely room with good friend and former Notre Dame commit CJ Williams once he announces he’s headed for SC. Recruiting, transfer portal, and the coaching shuffle is particularly crazy this year. Wait until the HS transfer portal heats up in January …

excellent decision by Ricks, even though I was holding out hope he would come home.

No brainer.

Not a California kid but SC signed a linebacker from Hampton, GA today named Garrison Madden who is 6-2, a rocked up 200 lbs and ran a wind legal 10.7 100 meter dash in the spring.

I’m very intrigued. Those kinds of freakishly athletic, modern day linebackers from SEC territory tend to sign with Alabama, LSU and Georgia, not SC. And SC’s defense was slow as molasses and soft as baby excrement this season. 1st test of the Lincoln Riley/Alex Grinch era for me is whether they put that guy next to Raesjon Davis at linebacker and get outta the f-ing way.

Elias Ricks: “I was going to wait until next week but I talked to Nick Saban this morning and decided to get it done. I can’t wait to be coached by him, compete for a National Championship and stay in the SEC and test myself against the best of the best.”

Zero. Lies. Detected.

Lincoln Riley to Pac 12 Network: “We're getting ready to, in a lot of ways, overhaul this roster. Today is one step in a process ... The (recruits) we will bring in early are those that we feel very confident will help us change the culture.”

And all the SC people said Amen.

This new philosophy hurts a lot of talented, worthy, capable local kids who would normally get late offers to P5/FBS/FCS (Pac 12/Mountain West/Big Sky) programs. I can think of 4-5 off the top of my head who otherwise would have signed today …

Earnest Greene III of Bosco announcing at AA Bowl January 8 as well. He may or may not have silently signed a letter of intent today; still reportedly torn between Georgia and Alabama. His father Earnest II is from Savannah, GA, played at Savannah State before playing with the Chargers, and still has a significant amount of family in GA. He is also bigger than Earnest, which is saying a lot.

Arizona signed 10 of the top 100 senior recruits in California today, including kids from Servite, Alemany, Ontario Colony, Oaks Christian, and Long Beach Milikan. And that doesn’t count Ta’ita’i Uiagalelei of Mater Dei, who they took from Wazzu. Obviously not all are superstars but that’s quite a bit for the last place team in the Pac 12; UCLA signed 9 California top 100 players today and SC signed 2. The Wildcats number could grow if 4-star Speedy Luke and 5-star Tetairoa McMillan sign with U of A. Hitting SoCal HARD in that rebuilding project.

Bosco center Maicah Talavou also headed to West Point. Former Mater Dei OL Mason Kolinchak is currently a senior Right Tackle for Army. A lot of Trinity Lg representation at the military academy.

Stanford lists David Bailey as currently 6-3 255.

Barring injuries, they would have to somehow screw up his development for him to not be a high round NFL draft pick. Not sure that is possible. The kid is EARLY ENROLLING at Stanford! I didn’t even realize that was a thing. FREAKISH athlete and student.

Chip Kelly brings in former Mililani (HI) High School QB Dillon Gabriel as a transfer:

Gabriel threw 2 touchdowns but was sacked 7 times in a big loss to Bosco in Bellflower in 2018. He decommitted from Army after a late offer from former UCF coach Josh Heupel and went on to throw for more than 7,200 yards and 61 touchdowns as a freshman and sophomore. He broke his collarbone in Week 3 this season on the last play of the game against Louisville, after throwing for 818 yards and 9 touchdowns in 3 games.

Can Corona Del Mar legend and former Washington Husky Ethan Garbers beat him out this spring or will Garbers transfer to his 3rd college by the summertime?? The Bruins just signed Inglewood record-breaking QB Justyn Martin yesterday; they also have junior Chase Griffin (Hutto TX), former 4-star HS QB Parker McQuarrie (6-7 sophomore from New Hampshire) and freshman Kajiya Hollowayne (San Jacinto). That’s a crowded room to bring a star transfer into.

I wonder if local HS coaches might hesitate in sending their QBs to Westwood if Chip keeps stacking transfer QBs on top of them. The Bruins might need to sign or find another signal caller depending on how spring practice shakes out up on Spaulding Field.

Just to be clear I did say that t Mac was a GREAT high school player and he deserved all the awards and recognition he has gotten, I do believe and we will see that he will not make a big impact at the next level because:
He won't be faster nor much taller than the grownups that play Defensive backs at the D1 level.

He's not going to out jump everyone he plays against, and he will be hit many times and much harder unlike he did in high school.

We will see, but I don't think Oregon will employ 4 wide outs which would of helped him get single coverage, but if gets into a system where he will be a main target he will be getting a lot of punishment and I just don't see him taking that for the long haul.

Go to USC play in that spread offense where the DB's can't cover everyone, and then he may have a shot, at running free like he did in high school.
Lot safer on the Volleyball court.
Check back at this time next year and we can compare notes.

RB Lucky Sutton of CIF D1AA state champ San Diego Cathedral Catholic, the kid who scored about 77 touchdowns against OLu in the CIF regional, signed with hometown SDSU today. Another great pickup for the Aztecs, scooping up gems that the Pac 12 (and other Power 5s) overlooked: Norco QB Kyle Crum, Mater Dei DB Josh Hunter, La Canada St Francis RB/S Max Garrison, Corona Centennial CB Eric Butler, San Mateo Serra giant OL Drew Azzopardi, Cathedral Catholic giant OL Rambo Mateo, San Mateo Serra RB/WR Hassan Mahasin, and LA Loyola WR Jacoby Kelly.

Aztecs quietly building a nice roster of underrecruited/chip on the shoulder California kids like Chris Petersen used to do when he had it ROLLING at Boise. The same thing that new Colorodo State coach and former Nevada coach Jay Norvell is doing with all the kids he snuck out of LA to Fort Collins yesterday. BSU Broncos losing their grip on under the radar recruits and on the Mountain West Conference since Petersen and Brian Harsin took off to greener pastures …

Irvine HS linebacker Tate Zimmerman (6-1 205) signed with New Mexico, joining his brother Kade - a rising sophomore WR who is transferring to play for the Lobos after a semester at D2 Black Hills State in South Dakota. Both received offers after the season, where Tate captained the Vaqueros defense to a 10-0 regular season & Pacific Hills Lg championship.

JSerra Class of 2023 WR/KR/PR Eddie Schultz offered by the new Oklahoma Sooners staff today. Also offered recently by Florida State and Pac 12 champ Utah, among others.

Trinity Lg Special Teams MVP, first team all League. Had 4 returns for touchdowns this season of 90 yards or more, including the opening kick of the season against Sierra Canyon. Plays with SPEED. Nearly transferred last offseason but returned and was (arguably) the Lions’ best player.
