That question has already been answered. CIF-SS rules do not allow a member school to play two games in the same week. I don't know if the L.A. City Section has the same rule or not.

Got it..., It would be great if we had a few games each week on Monday night so teams could get more exposure to fans of other teams. And if you play a Monday maybe that team would have a scheduled game to follow on a Saturday.

When you follow your team and want to attend it gives little opportunity to see other teams. I like the Thursday game for this reason.

Is the "same week" a 7 day thing or a Sunday to Saturday?

It's not a seven-day thing, or teams could never play on a Saturday night and then the following Friday. I think it's a Sunday through Saturday thing.

Or you can realize every other delayed game (must be 30+) somehow had efficient enough buttholes to get it done. That includes schools lining up stadiums outside of their district. Last night. So the ONLY game not rescheduled was in fact CdM and Los Al. Total joke.

Once AGAIN SK80, you CAN’T play two games in one week. So Monday was NEVER a real option unless both teams forfeited next Friday’s game. To suggest Monday as a badge of honor falls flat on its face. You guys have some serious egg on your face. Embarrassing.

That's weak! Why are they playing that game at Cerritos? I know La Habra stadium is available. Sonora beat Buena Park last night 28-12 and La Habra makes up Troy at Fullerton HS. 7-7 tie??
That's a shame for CDM and I'm sure Los Al is getting off the hook? CDM making some serious noise. Now off to the battle of the bay! Who's gonna win that one?? lol!

Just a clarification for everyone in this discussion....

CIF allows teams to play two games in the span of 8 days. This was clarified this morning and confirmed directly by CIF. CDM offered to play at 7pm on Monday night at Cerritos College and this proposal was approved by CIF. The Los Al campus was not an option for Monday night because the neighborhood does not allow the lights.

Ultimately, both schools felt it was better to move on to their game later this week and agreed on a tie.

yea this.

I don't think asking a team to skip their fundraiser is a legitimate grip. Considering all the people that attend the fundraiser, and organize and run the fundraiser, will have to be at the game. IMHO, that's why Los Al wanted to play at 1 or 3pm today at Los Al. So, they could all still make the fundraiser.

Cdm96 - Do you know what CIFSS by-law number that is - the MD AD said that is not permissable
that is why the game bwt MD/Bosco had to be played tonight or nothing, said would not be a coin
toss if both finished with no losses but a card draw would be implemented to designate the number
one and two league playoff entries, fyi

Unfortunately I do not know the by-law number, but you are welcome to confirm it with CIF. As many people posted, there were early negotiations this morning to have the game resume on Monday. By that point, it had been confirmed with CIF that Monday was indeed an option. The sunset league rules requires varsity games on weeknights to start at 7pm. Los Al cannot host a night game because of neighborhood regulations so the game would have had to be at Cerritos College or another venue.

@SteveFryer
CIF constitution rule 2005 states that high school football teams cannot play more than two games within an eight-day period. Thus, playing Monday and Thursday/Friday next week is acceptable via CIF (and National Federation) rules

Yes, the game could have been played on Monday and was approved by cif

Where can you find the Sunset League rules? I’ve heard from a reliable source that the league rules don’t allow for a tie in league play, and if CDM and Los Al tie they will have to play a California tie breaker per league rules. I’m just wondering where someone can find these rules and how they’re enforced.

Interesting, the 8 day rule is because if you have a saturday game days all season, it works;
but what if you play, say a suspended game on the following Monday, does it still work for
your next Saturday game? - probably wrong but would your next regular Saturday game be three
games in 8 days?

And, actually in LosAl/CDM's case,if my numbers are correct, if they played Friday, then the following
Monday, both teams would have to wait until Saturday of that week to be eligible to play again, no?
(because they would have already played two games in an eight day span)

This is the best idea

Every game the rest of league play in the Sunset League should be tie's.

Let's have all three teams healthy for the playoffs.

Ties are Great
They stop kids from getting hurt because you never have to play the last three quarters.
This tie guarantees Edison be the third-place team and the Sunset league.

That is technically not true at this point.
If HB wins their next two games they would be league Champion and depending on how the Edison/Los Al game ends, (if Edison wins their game with FV this coming week) Edison could be in 4th place with a loss to Los Al or Tied for league Champion with a win.

If HB wins next two games ( against Los Al and then CDM) HB would have only 1 loss in league. CDM would have 1 1/2 losses ( if they beat NH this week).

if Los Al would have a loss to HB and a tie to CDM, so a loss to Edison would have them in 4th place and a win would have them and CDM in a tie for 2nd/ 3rd with a coin toss.

If HB beats Los Al but loses to CDM, then CDM is league Champion with just a 1/2 loss, and depending on the Edison Los Al game - if Los al wins - then Los Al is 2nd with 1 1/2 losses, HB and Edison are tied for 3rd with 2 losses each and a coin flip to determine who is 3rd and for 4th. Yes Edison beat HB head to head but they lost to Los Al and HB beat Los Al so a coin flip will be needed I believe.

if HB loses to Los Al but beats CDM, Then the Edison /Los Al game has a lot of possibilities - and the league championship - if Los Al wins they are league champion. and CDM 2nd place, that would leave HB and Edison tied for 3rd and a coin flip needed again)
If Edison wins the game against Los Al, Edison is League Champion with only 1 loss, CDM and Los Al tie for 2nd / 3rd
with each of them at 1 loss and a tie, a coin toss needed to determine 2/3 and HB in 4th with 2 losses

lots of things can happen if Los Al and CDM dont take care of business.

How did you bring HB into this....

The hypothetical of Huntington winning the next two games is crazy. CIF would lose it if CDM, LosAl and Edison didn’t make it to the playoffs.

CIF made the Sunset league to be a three team league with HB, NH and FV at the bottom.

In one year the Sunset Football League will be changed again....... CDM, LosAl and Edison will be placed in a Super public school league.

HB, NH and FV will be part of the new Sunset League with Marina, Westminister and Ocean View.

Burbank and Muir played at 8:30 AM on Saturday. Olu played at 10:30 AM. I know that La Mirada played at 10 AM due to Saturday night being their Homecoming dance. Bellflower was only able to get 1 bus to transport their team but they managed to get everyone there on time. The biggest challenge I heard that La Mirada had was getting officials for the game.
