Chase is a redshirt Frosh, or 2nd year freshman. Clemson had 4 QBs transfer in one offseason, including a true sophomore who was a former Elite 11 finalist. Its more the norm now than the exception, so again, Chase deserves credit for keeping his head in it and working to get back to QB1.

It’s about time. At least Chip Kelly realized he was in HS before he graduated.

UCLA has the dumbest recruiting strategy of all time. “We don’t offer first or just offer anyone; we ignore the local stars and barely put effort into most of them in favor of slobbering over some kid from Seattle with 35” arms”

Looks like UCLA is getting it's REAR in GEAR!

With the instability at USC does UCLA have a shot here? The family ties is an interesting angle.

UCLA -- At Long Last -- Offers 2020 QB Bryce Young

8219632.JPG

"It's been a while in the making, but UCLA offered 2020 quarterback prospect Bryce Young, of Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei.

Young, the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback in the nation for 2020 according the 247Sports Composite rankings, is verbally committed to USC.

A little history:

Young comes from a family of Bruins, and when he was one of the up-and-coming young quarterbacks in the Southland a couple years ago, he talked about what it would mean to go to UCLA like his parents."

After the nonsensical slow-play strategy Chip Kelly used, the only reason UCLA would have a shot at Bryce now is because his guy Kingsbury left for the Cardinals and Helton’s office chair is in flames.

Family connections or not, if he’s going anywhere outside of SC, I still think other schools that were under serious consideration by Bryce like Oklahoma, Texas, Washington or Oregon are better fits.

Having said that, UCLA really has no great options at QB right now, and I’m surprised they couldn’t close on Fields or Martell or Hurts from the transfer market.

It's now being widely reported that McCoy is leaving for Texas and is in the NCAA transfer portal. Pretty incredible change of mind and it will be interesting to see if he gets eligibility next year at Texas. USC really needs to figure out the OC ASAP.

Bru leaving isn’t all that incredible considering SC allegedly lied about the Kingsbury situation to get him there, and his entire family has been enraged for the entire 2 weeks Bru has been enrolled, wishing he had picked Texas in the first place.

It was neck and neck between the two schools; no surprise he’d leave for Austin considering what went down.

I know this seems to be the non-Mater Dei offers thread, but a couple Monarch juniors received huge offers this week. Kirby Smart and Georgia rolled through MD and offered Myles Murao (already has LSU, USC, Washington, many others).

Michigan and Tennessee also offered Darion Green Warren, who has been* committed to Oklahoma since last July 4. Grew up in Edmond, Oklahoma before moving to CA but says he will take visits to Florida, FSU, LSU and likely Michigan after OU’s DB coach left for Texas Tech and he received his latest offers.

Mater Dei’s super sophomore duo of Raesjon Davis and Jaylin Davies also have been racking up major offers.

Both were offered by Oregon in the fall, Oklahoma and Florida State in December, and this week were offered by Michigan on the same day as Green Warren.

Davis also added Oklahoma State and Arizona, which had earlier offered Davies.

Both were also recently named Maxpreps Sophomore All Americans. Bright future for those kids leading the MD defense. Could both end up with 25+ offers if they don’t commit early.

Totally agree. The Pac 12 has to prove it can compete on a national level consistently, otherwise these other major conferences are going to have the ears of more and more of the best local talent ... as they should.
