Returning Players

Post by HonorGloryLove » Tue Mar 20, 2018 6:38 pm

Has anyone done an analysis of which teams we might reasonably expect to reach the D1 or open division playoffs have a high number of returning starters?

Am I wrong in assuming that having a lot of returning starters is highly predictive of how well a team will do?

Could one go further and say having returners at a particular position (O line, for example) is most predictive?

In Mater Dei's case...yes, you are wrong. They just steal other teams' 4* or 5* players to fill the holes.

Perhaps it is time to once again change your nom de plume. Might I suggest PROFESSOR TAUTOLOGY as a fitting pseudonym...

In Smurfite's case... It is ok to steal MD players because they are only 3 star.

Analyze this HGL it could be said in previous HSFB the return of a number of (talented) seniors especially OL
would indicate a strong percentage of probability of fielding a good team. Much like MD's line last year. However the rebuilding process has changed with the advent of the Transfer. Rebuilding may be gone and reloading may be a better terminology. It's a matter of which team gets the better talent and it appears for the near future MD is on the leader board. Infuse the returners with some key players and another Perfect Storm arrives.

It's okay for ANYONE to steal Mater Dei players, because no school deserves to get raided more the THE #1 raiders in the universe---Mater Dei. Fair is fair. Sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. What goes around comes around. Karma. Tit for tat. An eye for an eye.

Wonder who MDDad had in mind when he posted the following;

"While there may be less joy in winning this way, that lesser joy is still considerably more joy than is held by the
bitter grown men who whine and complain on this forum day after day, week after week, and month after month, trying to belittle another program rather than support their own."

MV didn't steal those players.. they actual fell into their lap.

The LB was a spot duty player and has always had one foot out the Mater Dei door since sophomore year.

The kicker - his brother is MDs starting kicker and he wanted to be a starting kicker. So no way around that but to leave

And the WR you speak of.. theres no WR who has left to go to MV. All the lower level kids who left are at jSerra.

As much as you want to play with the big boys PTG you will still be number 5 if your lucky in D 1 you can get all the transfers you want you are getting second tier and 3rd tier players.

Ok well we have a couple of big boy teams on the schedule so we'll see...#5 in D1 in the CIF SS is pretty good for a public school...but perhaps you're new...

Yorba Linda has a stud DL kid and El Modena has a big OL, Terlak. That will be a good game this year.
