Yes, the big boys and girls track and field meets truly tell you how strong of a team you have for
the CIF section meets and beyond, not the same as duel meets..

Right. For Dual meets you need to have depth of good athletes; for success in CIF section meets you need more quality than quantity.
Well, obviously we have giant butterflies in CA. They's climbin' in your windows, They's snatchin' your people up, tryin' to steal 'em. So y'all need to hide your kids, hide your stars, and hide your coaches cause they're grabin' everybody out here.

Agreed, and the higher you go (from CIF division, to Masters, to state), the less depth you need.

Kingspeed, didn't Mater Dei win the boys state championship four years ago with just Curtis Godin and Malik McMorris competing in the meet?

Yes, we indeed did win state with those 2 and a relay. But we covered 5 of 16 events and scored in 4 of five.
We won CIF and Masters however with scoring also in both relays and 2 pole vaulters. As you move to each level dual, league, CIF, Masters and State due to the number of entries from a larger the pool mid level athletes who help at a dual are eliminated and the tier gets higher each meet.
