Postby cruiser » Tue Jul 10, 2018 10:44 pm

SJB/IMG and BG not far behind.. (DLS/MV also in top 50)
The other two established major HS polls, USA Today and Maxpreps have not
released their pre-season rankings yet...

How many programs (other than a prep school) do you know that have 12 or 13 kids go D1, loose national player of the year (jr) and come out the next year ranked number one. Saban could not pull that one off, nice job MD.

Not many. But consider that there are not many schools willing to do what is required to effect that.......................Luca

Omar, I was looking for that list and I could not find OLu ranked anywhere that high. I went to Maxpreps that led me to the Xcellent top 25 and Freeman top 25 and neither of them have Olu in them, I went to Calpreps and National Top 25 Power rankings and it has Olu 9th at 81.3.

I am not doubting you I just didnt see where you saw that list. Could you give me that link.

Possibly from CalPreps preview, which won't be finalized until August 9th. Heck, even Servite, who most people figure won't win a single league game, is shown as the #73 team in the nation.
Well, obviously we have giant butterflies in CA. They's climbin' in your windows, They's snatchin' your people up, tryin' to steal 'em. So y'all need to hide your kids, hide your stars, and hide your coaches cause they're grabin' everybody out here.

Servite 4th? LOL! If that happens, the schools that finish below them need to immediately fire their entire coaching staff and apologize to their fans.

the most recent post on MaxPreps, has Bosco ranked as 1, MD as 2, but does Bosco have more talent returning than MD is from last season?

That's pretty amazing for the SoCal area to have so many schools. Is that a function of having so many good athletes/coaches in the area, such a high concentration of those factors as a handful of schools, or what? With that much talent locally one would think that the west coast colleges who recruit these kids would have better results to show for it.

Not sure the overall amount of local talent has changed dramatically, just where the elite kids go to school. There has been a trend for increasing numbers of these elite kids to attend far fewer/the same schools the last 10 years. The talent in the Trinity League is clearly at an all-time high. OLu easily has enough talent to win a league title 10 years ago but will likely finish third or fourth this year.

I’d say Bosco has the edge in the trenches. MD will have mostly a new, although talented, O line and D line while Bosco brings back a lot. Bosco has ridiculous depth at the D line.

oh nice, exciting to hear, would you say this Bosco team for this year, has a chance to be better than the 2013 Bosco team? or just the closest team since the 2013 team?

Now that looks more realistic. MD lost their whole team except 6 starters. Totally different team.

They very easily to go undefeated and win the national championship. They don't have a hard schedule, the only team that they need to beat is MD.

well I wish them the best, even though I don't have any ties to Bosco, I would like to see them win it all because it would be nice for a team in the SoCal area to have won the National championship multiple times besides MD, because I believe MD is the only HS in the Southern California region to have won it more than once. Plus, if Bosco was to win it all this season, I believe they would be ranked higher in the national polls than the 2013 team did, because they were not ranked number 1 in every computer poll, only some of them, but the 2017 MD team finished number 1 in every computer poll.

Yeah, MD won more then once but the problem they had before last years win, it took over 2 decades to win another national title. What is most amazing about Bosco team in the last 5 years, they have been the most consistent Div 1 HS football team in southern California when it comes to making it to the CIF and State title game. Bosco is the Only Southern Sec Div1 school to have been to 5 straight consecutive Div 1 CIF finals. And they will make it a 6th this year. No southern Cali school has shown that type of consistency in the pass 20 years. Its going to be a battle between MD and Bosco but i love Bosco's chances. Only 6 starters back from MD 22 starters from last year.Totally different team and a whole lot of Div 3, 4 and 5 transfers that has never been battle tested in the Div 1 TRINITY LEAGUE. Its no joke when you enter the #1 League in the country. Going to be a great game.

Poor Mater Dei. Only 6 starters return? Must be difficult adjusting. Sending prayers they get past the Fountain Valley Barons next week. OCVarsity should do a kickoff survey: which team has more Catholics?

GO ROLLO! :steam:
