Long Beach Area Top 10

Postby Professor Fate » Wed Aug 08, 2018 11:39 pm

The Press Telegram is rolling out the LB Area to ten. Here's what they have so far:

10. St. Anthony
9. Warren
8. LB Wilson
7. Downey
6. LB Millikan
5. Paramount
4. Los Alamitos
3. Mayfair
2. ??
1. ?

Well, obviously we have giant butterflies in CA. They's climbin' in your windows, They's snatchin' your people up, tryin' to steal 'em. So y'all need to hide your kids, hide your stars, and hide your coaches cause they're grabin' everybody out here.

2. LBP
1. Bosco

It’s obvious since they consider the Bellflower Braves a LB area team.

Thats a bizarre grouping, from Downey to Los Al... :eh?: I will say Mayfair played CDM tight at Redondo 7v7.

I'm wondering who put this together given they let go all of the HS sportswriters. Hard to get too excited about these pre-season rankings anymore with all the cutbacks to the HS sports departments in SoCal. CIF rankings might be even worse. If they even turn them in each week, I'm guessing most coaches don't spend a lot of time on them. We probably spend a lot more time talking about it here on the boards, and would be a lot more accurate than either the news outlet or CIF polls. After about 4-5 games, calpreps is the most realistic ranking IMO.

I still think OCVarsity guys have a good beat on rankings for OCHSF. They really know the teams, go to the games, talk to the players and coaches. They are at the camps and the 7v7.

That means Old Man Croson and his Chaminade squad are at the top. With games against Folsom and Oaks Christian, I don't see Chaminade finishing undefeated.
