1988 Highlights

Postby Credo ut intelligam » Thu Nov 08, 2018 9:32 am

Pretty cool NFL Films-style highlight film of the 1988 Mater Dei Football team , "The Tradition Lives Again." Wonder where these guys are now? A little gift to my Monarch friends. Enjoy the memories.

The only thing I could find from Servite from that year is a short clip of the Hut Drill, narrated by the legendary Larry Toner. Love the 1980's mesh, big shoulder pads, and flappy-sleeves uniforms.

Love those shoulder pads makes kids look like NFL'ers!

1988 was also a memorable season for me Sea Kings under Coach dave Holland winning a CIF Title.

Thank you so much----it's been a very long time since I saw that film and I remember
many of the players. Tony Pena returned to MD and coached the Varsity for
a few years.

RIP Rob Nichol. I believe "Big Robbie" was a senior that year. I miss that guy. He was a great friend and coach.

That was the last Monarch team to lose to Servite (42-24) before the streak started the following year.
Well, obviously we have giant butterflies in CA. They's climbin' in your windows, They's snatchin' your people up, tryin' to steal 'em. So y'all need to hide your kids, hide your stars, and hide your coaches cause they're grabin' everybody out here.

So the Friars and the Dodgers have something in common

I must have missed the two World Series titles the Dodgers won in 2009 and 2010.
