The only way SM will be competitive again in the Trinity League is if they are willing to lower their academic standards and by changing tuition assistance from need based to full on football scholarships. That is the MD, Jserra and Bosco model. While Mr. Dunn was the Principal there was no way the school was going to lower the academic standards. Now that Mr. Dunn is retired we will see what the new principal is willing to tolerate.
SM has had quality football players transfer out because they and their parents no longer wanted to compete against the IMG West schools. Much more enjoyable way to spend their high school football playing days at Mission Viejo beating up on the weak South Coast League than subjecting their bodies to the abuse they receive playing a team with 5 Star players at every position. At Mission they may only play one of those teams in the playoffs if they advance to the second round. I would much prefer the school to stick to their standards and move to division 2.
