Well, sort of.

I finally found a plugin that plays videos that we can upload from our own devices. Now we can share all those kewl cat videos our friends send us and videos we take at HSFB games if there ever are such things again.

To use it, simply hit the "Add files" button below the posting box or drag the file over the box just like any other attachment. That's it. So easy even a grownup can do it. This is separate from the "embedded videos" function and one doesn't affect the other. One limitation on it, though, is that it only accepts mp4, ogg, ogm and webm formats. It doesn't play mov, mpeg or avi formats or any others that you might have, but those can be uploaded and then either downloaded or played by people's own players, depending on setups.

And a couple caveats: The plugin is a beta, so no guarantees it will be updated or continue to work if codecs change and I don't know how it will affect our server load, so I might have to impose restrictions of some kind. We'll see. Right now, the file size limit is set very high and I might be adjusting it but you likely won't notice unless you try to post an especially long hi-res video. And it doesn't give a preview, so a word of explanation might be helpful.

I tried this. I'm certain y'all would love to see a 68 year old geezer (almost 68 anyway) doing a mixed martial arts workout and kicking ASS.

Sadly, the audio portion of the video - which plays perfectly on my computer, on Facebook, and on Twitter, did not play on OC Connect. The volume button was greyed out, and no sound emanated. Which is NO FAIR, because the sound played on your video.

On the bright side, you have something to look forward to, when you get it fixed.
