Ex Mater Dei QB's
What if the 2021 college playoff for the Championship pitted Georgia against Alabama?
Two Mater Dei QB's face off against each in the ultimate bowl game of interest of all time.

Hyperbole much?
One step at a time...let's hope they both stay healthy & win their respective starting jobs, then we'll see...

I didn't say it was a lock, it was just something to talk about in this unending bunch of garbage.

Re: Ex Mater Dei QB's
Thank you, Captain Downer
Anything on the actual topic, or just more personal attacks?
Personally, I would love to see it happen, but 'Bama currently has 7 QBs on the roster (1 Sr.) as do the Dawgs (no Srs.).
If they both do manage to stay healthy and win the starting jobs, there is at least a chance we'll see them square off in Conference play...

I didn't say you did. But it's a bit much to say that if they do end up squaring off that it would be "the ultimate bowl game of interest of all time"...I mean, really?watchersince68 wrote:I didn't say it was a lock

I mean it's just a hypothetical. Sounds pretty darn interesting to me. JT proved himself this year.
Would also love to see DJ @ Clemson play Bryce or JT as well.
Neat to see our Trinity talent go off and be successful at the next level. USC disappointed ultimately this year, but it was kind of cool seeing SO many players on the field from MD and Bosco.

Re: Ex Mater Dei QB's
I expect any 2 of the three to be around at the end. Bama sure gets the best overall talent right now and good reason, a lot of Natty's,

Re: Ex Mater Dei QB's
Playing behind Lawrence kinda obscured what he accomplished, but DJ had a helluva freshman year...he absolutely kicked butt in the 2 games he started when Lawrence was outBigBosco wrote:Would also love to see DJ @ Clemson play Bryce or JT as well

Re: Ex Mater Dei QB's
DJ's ONLY flaw that ever saw was when the blitz was on he didn't perform as well. And for whatever reason of the championship game we did not blitz as much in the second half as maybe we should have. DJ with time is unstoppable. I don't see him going four years at Clemson, he is pro size and pro arm right now.

Re: Ex Mater Dei QB's
Agreed. With Lawrence declaring, DJ should take the reins next season and one full season as starter should be enough

Today on ESPN.com:
College Football's 2021 Breakout Players For Each Top 25 Team
No. 1 Clemson: QB D.J. Uiagalelei
This feels like cheating. Saying Uiagalelei is going to be Clemson's breakout player is like predicting the next Marvel movie will make a lot of money. These aren't predictions so much as foregone conclusions. Uiagalelei was among the most hotly recruited quarterbacks in the nation, then gave Clemson fans a sneak peek of his skill set in a two-game fill-in spot for Trevor Lawrence, who tested positive for COVID-19. All Uiagalelei did was lead a huge comeback from down 18 points against Boston College, then throw for more yards than any QB in history against Notre Dame. Now that he's Clemson's full-time starter, his ceiling seems limitless. -- David M. Hale
No. 4 Georgia: QB JT Daniels
It took some time for him to finally see the field, and only then did we catch glimpses of Daniels' talent. There were solid performances against Mississippi State and Missouri, but those had to be balanced against so-so outings against South Carolina and Cincinnati. Still, there was enough to see his potential and how he could unlock a perennially disappointing Georgia offense. With George Pickens, Jermaine Burton, Kearis Jackson and Darnell Washington to throw to, don't be surprised if Daniels puts up big numbers next season. -- Alex Scarborough
FYI - their "breakout" pick for Bryce Young's No. 2 Alabama was a D-back...

Re: Ex Mater Dei QB's
unfortunately, he would need to have 2 full seasons before he even can think about the league.Omar Bongo wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 7:58 pm Agreed. With Lawrence declaring, DJ should take the reins next season and one full season as starter should be enough
He's a top 3 pick as long as he stays healthy.

Did not know thatKuppster wrote:he would need to have 2 full seasons before he even can think about the league
PLAYER ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for the draft, players must have been out of high school for at least three years and must have used up their college eligibility before the start of the next college football season. Underclassmen and players who have graduated before using all their college eligibility may request the league’s approval to enter the draft early.
Players are draft-eligible only in the year after the end of their college eligibility.
