That Krazy Kancel Kulture

Post by John Q. Public »

Kicking off with this... "thing" from Donald about cancelling all these companies because they unconstitutionally canceled something or other and rigged the election without getting approval from their state legislatures. Or something like that. Happy Easter.

Nice little business you got there. It'd be a shame if it was to get cancelled.
WASHINGTON — U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell lashed out at corporate America on Monday, warning CEOs to stay out of the debate over a new voting law in Georgia that has been criticized as restricting votes among minorities and the poor.

In a sign of a growing rift in the decades-old alliance between the conservative party and U.S. corporations, McConnell said: “My advice to the corporate CEOs of America is to stay out of politics. Don’t pick sides in these big fights.”

McConnell warned companies there could be risks for turning on the party, but he did not elaborate.

“Corporations will invite serious consequences if they become a vehicle for far-left mobs to hijack our country from outside the constitutional order,” McConnell told a news conference in his home state of Kentucky.

I hope McConnell follows through. Shutting that GOP spigot of funding.

Whenever you hear the accusation that someone is not sufficiently respectful of Trump supporters, just remember that no-one holds them in lower esteem than Trump himself
"Trump is what he is, a floundering, inarticulate jumble of gnawing insecurities and not-at-all compensating vanities, which is pathetic."

I kinda hate this whole "cancel culture" thing - and especially the hypocrisy that usually accompanies it.

When did we become so over PC that people lose their careers for things they did when they were drunk or ignorant 30 years ago?

I'm pretty sure most people here are old enough to be relieved that there were no iPhones during their high school or college years.

With the exception of the Kavanaugh case (and even then there were good reasons), I haven't really seen anyone getting "canceled" for things they did when they were 16.

Some things transcend time. I don't care if Kevin Spacey tried to have sex with a 14-year-old boy 35 years ago or 35 minutes ago, he doesn't get a pass. But he was also "drunk," so maybe he does?

Al Frankin

I mean, make an example of it but lose a career? It depends on the degree I suppose.
There are worse people in office now than what Al Frankin got canned for.

Good god, one even became president.

I cannot think of a time (during my lifetime) when someone would not get offended about what should have been little or meaningless things.

I remember a time when white people would go nuts in the head if a black person drank water from the wrong fountain.
