2022-2026 Releaguing Cycle

Post by broman »

With CIF turning to football only leagues, might see some shuffling among the top end programs. Few thoughts, maybe Sierra Canyon and Loyola joining the Trinity or a new expanded version of the league. Any schools of the Trinity school openly discussion moving down into a more competitive situation? Olu just let their coach go, maybe based on wins and loses. Lower levels, Santa Ana and Orange need to be moved out of the Orange Coast.

maybe add two teams and go to a conference format for football only? Crean Lutheran and St Margarets? Don't see the current six changing- OLu, SM and JSerra more than competitive in other sports, and in some cases (JSerra and OLu baseball, SM aquatics/girls volleyball, JSerra girls soccer) elite. Basketball at each of these schools holds it own.

It's about overall athletic program-not just football.

SIerra Canyon and Loyola HS too far away and belong to a different CIF region (CAA) than the OC schools plus Bosco (OC region). It's the same reason that Oaks Christian and St Bonaventure never joined the CAA-distances too far for other sports besides football.

I could never understand why Bosco wants to play in an Orange County league instead of
a LA county league. The drive to Santa Margarita and JSerra must be killers and
vice versa., especially on a Friday night. I guess they like the atmosphere of Orange
County more than LA County.

the drive for who? The team? Parents/family/friends?

Have you seen the buses the Bosco team travels in? They are beautiful and comfy. I've seen college programs travel in worst buses.

Loyola and Bishop Amat were in the Serra League with four Orange County schools before so I assume CIF can make changes. Shuffling the private schools into new leagues would restore some balance.

They have got to get rid of these 4 team leagues. I think there are more small leagues than 6 team leagues now. I guess it’s a product of everyone gets a trophy.

The drive south is easier than the drive north-especially if you have to play games north of the mountains or out in the San Gabriel Valley.

Looks like the LA county privates are reshuffling. Sierra Canyon moving into the Misson League.

Hopefully, St Bonnies, Oaks Christian, Bishop Diego can be in the same league. Grace Brethren would have been a good choice for the fourth school but they imploded when their coach left.

St Bonnie and Oaks will both be Marmonte League. Don't know about Bishop Diego.

With the right coach and admin support Bonnie can get back to where it was. In it's heyday it was everyone's 2nd favorite team in western Ventura County, representing against the MD's of the world.
