Maybe this is why. Russia is "drafting" local men between the ages of 17 and 60 and sending them out without training - or weapons in some cases - to get shot at so they can locate Ukrainian positions. They don't seem to be happy with that.

I will not draw any conclusions. Apparently their support of the Motherland only goes so far.

The war in Ukraine has become hazardous to the health of at least one russian demographic.

Oligarchs.

Newsweek is reporting that at least six have died since January.

https://www.newsweek.com/every-russian- ... st-1700022
Two Russian oligarchs were found dead this week alongside their family in luxurious homes in Russia and Spain, with the two cases discovered within 24 hours of each other.

Both deaths are believed by police to be cases of murder-suicide, but the evidence supporting these theories is muddled by the fact that the events happened so close together, with the two oligarchs the last of several who have been found to have died by suicide since the beginning of the year.
Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence......

Thoughts and prayers.

I am going with it being part of Putin's plan. After all, TFG says he is a "genius."

Add Rand Paul to the Useful Idiot category.

https://www.c-span.org/video/?519653-1/ ... v&live&vod
Paul stated, "You could also argue the countries they (Russia) attacked were part of Russia. Were part of the Soviet Union."

Blinken replied, "I firmly disagree with that proposition. It is the fundamental right of these countries to decide their own future and own destiny."

Sen. Paul argued that countries like Georgia and Ukraine were part of the Soviet Union since the 1920's, which has no bearing whatsoever on what's happening in Ukraine in 2022.

Sec. Blinken, "But that does not give Russia the right to attack them."
Paul gives credibility to Putin's propaganda.

This was one of the responses to that tweet. I have no doubt there is some truth to it.

This is a "thank you for your service" moment.

The Kyiv Post is reporting.
Russian Federation (RF) authorities informed family members of dead crewman from the cruiser Moskva that the state will offer them no survivor compensation, because the warship sank by accident not in military action, and their son’s whereabouts are unknown, news reports on Friday, May 6, said.

A letter from the RF Black Sea Fleet’s (BSF) prosecutor general’s office sent to Dmitriy Shkrebets, father of Moskva crew member Egor Shkrebets, and made public on May 6, said the Moskva’s Apr. 14 sinking took place in international waters by accident. The warship, by a substantial margin the BSF’s most powerful weapon, was in international waters and had not been participating in combat operations against Ukraine, and the younger Shkrebets’ whereabouts is not known, the RF navy letter asserted.

Putin smiles at his useful idiot. Carlson goes on to blame Hillary for something. They are not even trying to hide their hatred of America during this foreign policy crisis.

I don't know that these have gotten much coverage here but Romanian TV has been giving it kind of "Daily Show" coverage for a few weeks. Seems a lot of government buildings in Russia have been catching fire for some reason.

It would seem that the Russians have had enough of the symbol of Ukrainian resistance, the farm tractor. No longer content with simply stealing farm equipment, only to find it later remotely disabled, they're sending airstrikes against tractors now. Somewhat miraculously, the farmer survived though remains in critical condition.

The New Voice of Ukraine is reporting;
The Russian military carried out an airstrike on a Ukrainian tractor, working the fields in Kharkiv Oblast, the regional police reported on May 11. The driver received injuries to both legs and has been hospitalized.

According to law enforcement, a Russian pilot fired a missile at the machine, located in the village of Novyi Merchyk, at about 1045, causing the tractor to burn down.
I get the emotional response of being embarrassed by having one's heavy military equipment (tanks and artillery) being towed away by mere farmers. The cost of blowing up a tractor with a aircraft fired missile is not a good use of resources. IMO.

Numerous outlets are reporting that Sen. Rand Paul (R-Moscow) is single handedly holding up emergency aid for Ukraine. Another so called conservative is open about being a useful idiot/communist stooge.

This was taken when Putin got the news.

This Russian general is not mincing words. Much to the dismay of the others trying to paint a rosy picture of what is happening in Ukraine. Amazing that he is allowed to be so candid.
