Official Week 4 Predictions Thread
Bragging Rights Challenge
What's going to be the biggest blowout of Week 4 (besides the obvious pick of Crean Lutheran South)? While there are several games that could have a 40+ point spread, I'm going to say that L.A. Lutheran will win big over Liberty Christian.
Post your picks in thread.
Welcome to the Year Seven of perspixx's Orange County High School Football Pool.
Week 4 is here. 55 games.
Picks must be made before 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Don't cry to me if you miss the deadline; it's in a big font.
The Game of the Week is Los Alamitos vs. La Habra (I'm not having Edison in the GotW three weeks in a row).
The Pillow Fight of the week is Century vs. Saddleback.
There are seven Small Schools games and eight Non-County games.

The pool is free to play, but I will accept gifts.
There are no prizes, but I'll buy you a drink if we're at the same game and you recognize me.
Don't cheat.
SCHEDULE
I'm in the process of adding the rest of the regular season games. Feel free to browse the schedule and alert perspixx of any errors in Weeks 0 to 10. Major errors include the wrong teams facing each other or the wrong date. Start time and home/away don't really matter. All times are Eastern Time Zone.
Overview of changes
If you've played the pool before, here's a quick list of what is different in 2009:
Yes, you have to sign up again. The initial password is still gamits.
Signing Up & Making Picks
Go to Make Picks, enter your screen name and the initial password: gamits. After doing so, you'll be able to select a new password. Passwords cannot be longer than 8 characters. Then, pick the teams you think will win each game on the schedule; pick every game, there is no penalty for incorrect predictions.

Scoring
Each regular game involving an Orange County team is worth 1 point. Beginning in Week 1, each week will also have a Game of the Week and Pillow Fight of the Week. The former is intended to be the most interesting game that week, usually involving teams with undefeated or nearly-undefeated records and intense rivalries. The latter is the most interesting game of that week involving bad teams, even better if both are winless.
The featured games will always be between two Orange County schools.
The GotW is Game 1 on the weekly schedule, and the PFotW is Game 2. The remaining games are sorted by date and visiting team, with small schools and non-county games at the bottom. Exceptions will be noted by perspixx when the pool is opened each week.
The GotW and PFotW are not official until the pool is opened by perspixx each Sunday or Monday. Some weeks may have multiple GotW or PFotW if there is a need for it.
Scoring is different during the playoffs.
Whomever has the most points at the end of the season, including the playoffs and state bowl games, will be declared the overall champion. He or she shall will gain the people's ovation and fame forever. Also, the Top 10 earn Pool Lore status. Vernster52 is the defending champion. Previous winners include perspixx (2003, 2006, 2007) and cool24 (2004, 2005)
The following people have earned Pool Lore status:
Legendary Lore: Vernster52, perspixx, cool24
Multi-Lore: drj44, WileyWolverine, kevinhurl, RMOnAir, UniDad
Lore: JustACoach, gobruins, ocfootballfan, Bick, RandyF59, DButkus, fanolfb, magic, WalkingE, Daddyman, YahooJack, Bobby G., playahata, coachesopinion, titansfan, YoungBuc21, edisonfan, OCStatMan
King of the Small Schools
Games involving Orange County teams from the Academy, Express and San Joaquin leagues are considered small schools games, and are listed below the regular games on the weekly schedule. Occasionally, Calvary Chapel and Yorba Linda will appear in the small schools competition. Throughout the season, the leaders in picking these games will be tracked, with the winner being crowned King of the Small Schools and entered into the Pool Lore.
cool24, gobruins, and MD Statman are the returning co-Kings of the Small Schools. Vernster52 won the King of the Small Schools competition in 2007; previous winners include cool24 and OCStatMan.
Non-County games
Several games involving teams from outside Orange County will be featured each week. From Week 0 onward, there will never be fewer than four of these games in a week, nor will there ever be more than 10, unless perspixx deems it necessary. Criteria for selecting these games is similar to those used for picking the Game of the Week and Pillow Fight of the Week.
Non-county games will only feature teams from the counties adjacent to Orange County. Namely, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside and San Diego counties. perspixx will endeavor to include at least one game from each county each week during the regular season. The exception is Week 00, which has the theme of California vs. The World.
Non-county games are worth one half-point each. Throughout the season, the leaders of the non-county competition will be tracked, with the winner being entered into Pool Lore.
perspixx, Crayegg, drj44, and ocfootballfan are the defending co-Non-county Champions. UniDad won the inaugural non-county competition in 2007.
Bracket competition
Near midseason, the top 32 (or 64) players in the pool will be sorted into bracket format for a five (or six) week single-elimination tournament. The 2008 winner was kevinhurl. perspixx won in 2007.
Tied games
Games which end in a tie are meaningless as far as the pool is concerned. Players do not gain or lose points from these games. They will be deleted from the schedule, and the point will be made up with additional featured or non-county games.

Spoilers! I guess the Trojans are quitting after losing 88-0 to Webb last week. It's a free point for those who want it.WileyWolverine wrote:Perspixx/Poolman:

It is a marathon not a sprint. My goggles are clear and im running smooth as planned. I see the competition in front of me and it looks like a bunch of chickens without heads.

Having only attained Lore status, I am humbled to be listed with the Legendary Lore Perspixx on kevinhurl's list of people he dreams of beating this year. As Vernster52 (and Mater Dei) have learned, it's what you've done lately that countsperspixx wrote: The following people have earned Pool Lore status

Re: Official Week 4 Predictions Thread
It was in the rules before, but I might have forgotten to put it in this year. You don't have to change your name or anything. Knowing who's playing as who helps me to make sure people aren't multi-ing, and makes it easier to direct trash talk during the upcoming bracket play...
