Rancho Balboa Federal Rehabilitation Center

The NHRA and a large national penal and rehabilitational solutions provider are conducting feasibility studies on bringing California's first privately operated federal detention and rehabilitation center to Orange County.

The facility would include a minimum security rehabilitational center housing a maximum of 1000 individuals, as well as the company's national headquarters, which would employ approximately 750 people in high paying management and staff positions.

Requirements for residency in the facility would be a demonstrated low risk of flight and conviction of non-violent crimes such as bribery, fraud, political corruption and tax evasion.

The recently-passed Measure F is not seen as an obstacle, given that Newport Beach residents showed support for such facilities by voting overwhelmingly against it.
